In more than 50 years of driving, I have never been pulled over for an offence. During my years working in the theater, I was stopped about once a year when I was returning home late at night. It was a routine way that was successful in finding stolen cars before ANPR. Police stopped all cars that were the make and color of a vehicle reported stolen, One evening about 15 years ago I was stopped and surprised when the officer rushed over and greeted me by name. It was during the ANPR test period and when my name, address and date of birth came up, he realized that I was one of his old school friends from 30 years ago.
On a rural desert highway, I was speeding and a cop in the opposing lane clocked me. She flipped a bitch and chased after me. I was stopped behind a car in front of me as we waited for a train to pass through. In my rear view window, I could see the cop mouthing the words "PULL OVER!" I pretended to be too close to the car's bumper in front of me to do so. Eventually she turned back around and went the other way. Probably to pursue a more serious incident. I dodged a ticket!
No.. But, most people just drive until they get pulled over. I already knew I would be done so I stopped.
