Oh my word!!!! This is just absolutely horrifying! You could have been having a seizure...but God knows you won't know since those stupid asses didn't check you out. Those bitch nurses and what they were saying literally makes me livid just reading about it. There is NO EXCUSE for such uncompassionate care...my goodness, I hope ALL of them experience justice for that.

Even though you are healthy and haven't had any more episodes, please please go to a doctor somewhere up there and tell them about what you went through. He could prehaps run tests...maybe there is some kind of way to see if you had a seizure, or God forbid, some kind of mild stroke. Being depressed and devoid of energy is NOT going to cause such serious physical symptoms, so don't listen to anybody saying that bs.

I truly hope you never talk to that sob pos ex again...what a fucking jackass.

I'm so glad you are back here, and have changed your perspective on things...but if (or when) you begin to feel bad or depressed, please drop me a line. Post here. Anything...I care very much for you, as do many here.

Just for the record, its people with higher intelligence that experience existential crisis and dread...so you can be happy to know beyond the shadow of a doubt you are smarter than the majority of people.

Don't let this holiday season get you down...it can be very hard for those that don't have merry merry everything going on. Plans for doing stuff are great, so that you don't find yourself in an alone, depressing situation. Even going to a book store, a different store or whatever. Maybe plan to cook something you've never cooked before.

Sorry that you had to go through that. I've dealt with our mental health system and it sucks, especially if you're outside of a major city.

I can send you my phone number so at least you have someone you can call who will give a shit and listen to you. I know we don't know each other well, but sometimes having someone a bit detached from the situation to talk to can help too. I'm currently crawling out from a pretty dark hole myself too, and I know how much it fucking sucks and how hard it can be.

I disagree completely.... it may be inadequate..but the people I have dealt with and still do deal with are dedicated to the profession......ive dealt with the most hardcore of situations with my kid...they do their best in a really hard job....kid just stayed at CAMH for a few months in Toronto...I was in regular contact with some very caring and sympathetic people …..it takes some severe determination,patience and some horrible''in
cidents''but it is entirely possible to get help if you need it....all of my kids workers /councillors etc gave/give me their cell numbers...scripts filled with a phone call...they've even visited him in jail lol

if I had of been with fae at the time she would have gotten a diagnosis and a valium...breaks y heart when I visit my kid in the hospital and see these other kids who dont look sick but who have the emptiest saddest faces...my kid generally looks sick but has a smile on his face ...he is currently living life off off meds and coping here with me on the island

 

CAMH is on a whole different level than what we have here, though. There is hardly anything up here past the family doctor. Less if you don't have coverage for therapy (I don't).

Also, how did the floors look? We did the floors in a brand new CAMH building, haha.

I totally identify. My last depressive episode, nervous breakdown really, was in 2015. My family doctor, who is an asshole, convinced himself I was on illicit drugs and that was the problem. The emergency room was the same. It took three trips to the emergency room before they admitted me...for the flu!!! What a load of shit. I hadn't been able to work for three weeks and was near suicidal for God's sake. I am so thankful for my family, particularly my brother and aunt, who saw to it I finally got the right treatment. Whenever I see some of these people on the news that do crazy shit I wonder how many of them are like me, only they have no family or friends to turn to. I feel the same for addicts, many of whom are undoubtedly self medicating.

 

From Halloween until Valentines Day is really hard for people with emotional problems. My heart goes out to them, and it should NEVER be so hard to find a person to talk to face-to-face anywhere, but especially in a country that has "free health care".

I know when I was going through a really hard time several years ago, I was told (over the phone) by the people at Mental Health, when I tried UNSUCCESSFULLY to get an appt to come in and talk to someone, "you just need to get yourself together. We are seeing as many as we can." I know of one person that is on disability, with the disability partly coming from anxiety and depression having this same Mental Health dept refuse to see or help her. It really sucks dirt here in 'Merica.

 

Most of them, I think. I've worked in soup kitchens and shelters, and the biggest common factor I notice is a lack of a support network.

I don't know where I'd be without my wife and parents. Same probably goes for rolling's son.

 

I wish there was an ''Agree" option instead of like...
