Condolences, it sucks so hard to see some place you love get completely ravaged by a (un)natural disaster.

9 years ago, I watched as one of my favorite places on earth go up in flames too.
It was a meadow and a forest on a mountainside near my home where I grew up. As a kid, I used to hike this land, and I'd find all kinds of neat things to bring back home. It was my sanctuary. Eventually as time went on, suburban sprawl took over most of it. But one day, some arsonist finished it all off.

I managed to get a few epic aviation photos from the forest fire though.

well its cold enough for the season here, and while it is a semi-arid climate, its usually not this dry for this long. our last rain was massive but brief, and happened last may. hasn't been a drop since.
our rivers flow mostly from the east slope of the sierras, out into the great basin, where they are greedily consumed by what agriculture, mostly free range ranching, they are able to support.
spring of a couple of years ago they got pretty high, the river through the middle of town, but they've been extremely low ever since.
and as you probably know, normally wet by this time of year, northern california is suffering major wildfires fed by drought.

well like i say, we only get flash flooding here, but even for the semi-desert northern nevade is, it's been, or seems to me anyway, unusually dry.
(and that's all the news from "lake where has it gone")

oh there is an anime con this weekend, that for reasons beyond my comprihension i wasn't able to navigate its preregistration storfront.
its a flip of a coin if i'll go or not, as its not a major thing to me. on the other paw, there aren't many of the things that are in the town where i live.

After three cups of tea I feel almost human. Just cleaning and doing laundry today. Nothing exciting on the agenda.

They are padlocks mate peoples memories of their holiday lots of them are engraved with names and dates you see them all over Europe! Don't people do that over there ?

Traffic reporter said he thinks it was a record number of accidents since he has been doing the traffic (30 years or more)
Took me 40 minutes just to get out of town.
Some people it took up to 7 hours to get home. Plus of course a few stranded cars because they ran out of gas.

Wasn't even that bad of a snow storm either...wouldn't even call it a storm. 4 inches near me.

ugh i just got a facebook message that a friend of mine and his wife are coming through town if we can we should meet up.
like. thats too fucken late notice for me hey. here i was hoping for a anxiety free weekend and ill have guests for a few hours.
its bloody rude.
