What's Happening???

Yeha, because I need an actual lens to fit over my cornea graphs glasses don't do anything for me as it's a flat plane so I need these expensive ones. On the plus side they last 5 years but because my eyes change all the time, I often need to get new lenses every 18mth.

 

Some dude I know just got convicted of his 4th first time dui.
First was 20 years ago. Second was 11 years later so after 10 years the first one goes away legally. Second one was never reported to the dmv. Third one was in north Carolina which also has the 10 year rule. And since the second one was never reported the prosecutors only knew of the first one which was over 10 years ago. 4th one was back in his his home state of NJ but north Carolina apparently doesn't share their DUI info with out of state dmvs so they only knew of the first one 20 years ago so prosecutors only still knew about the first time

anything above 7-8 is too hot in my books. -2*C in still weather, is the optimal temperature. For me. That's where you can go out and garden and not work up a sweat and not be cold.

i'm tired i'm having a nap.

 

One of the reasons I like the cold is people keep their heads down and mind their own business. I love Summer but the atmosphere on the street can get a bit manic at times. For me Winter is about retreating, finding yourself again, and getting into home life.

Yup... There were icicles on the bird feeder that looked like prison bars. Had to bust them off to put out seeds.

Ice storms are weird... I always looks like a "winter wonderland" but the damage they can cause is really bad.

And forget driving anywhere, even 4 wheel drive doesn't help unless the roads have been treated... Speaking of which, I need fuel for the furnace but couldn't get it yesterday... doesn't look like I will be able to today. Kinda sucks.

 

Ice Storms here = No power. Those pine trees, or idiot drivers, are always taking down power lines.

It makes for awesome sledding though.

But we're supposed to have an unusually snowy winter this year which is exciting

 

Especially exciting for all those drivers that don't know how to deal with snow... Like, "Oh Shit!" exciting.

 

My favorite post-surf hangout has been spared despite flames being ridiculously close. My heart breaks for Malibu. I could never afford to live there, and even if I could, I wouldn't want to. One, it's way too far from work, and two, as we've all seen in the news recently, living there comes with a certain baggage.

Anyway, it's an enclave for the rich and a lot of "Hollywood" celebrities live there rattan than anywhere near Hollywood. But for the beach bum surf crowd, Malibu isn't glamorous, rich and famous--it isn't art galleries and mansions. It's surfing Mecca. It's heaven. It's the 'Bu. It's the spot where surfing went from athletic pastime, to true artistic expression. It's where modern surfing was born. It's my favorite place on Earth. And it's burning to the ground

 

I've got branches down everywhere... Had to move the car "just in case", and scraped the ice off the truck... Doubt I'll be going anywhere, this place is "closed".
