I feel the “teachings” are false in many cases. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. But that’s just me. Everyone has to find their own way.
Care to name any of those cases? Like...give examples of teachings you feel are wolves in sheep's clothing?
I know. But I want to think that 1 hour and 40 minutes were on me, so I left it out #excuses #inşallah
Covering up sex abuse cases all the way to the Pope and claiming that they were adhering to Canon Law, for starters. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. Paid over $3 billion in lawsuits over pediphile priests. That money comes from tithes. And it all started when they taught that Peter was to be the first pope. That’s not what Jesus meant when he said “I will be build my church on you.” He meant on the message Peter spoke. You’ll know them by their fruit.
Those aren't teachings. I.e. The magisterium and the Pope. Canon Law aren't teachings either. The fact members in power manipulated it does not mean the Catholic church's theology is wrong. On what do you base this? What all started then? Pedophilia? Lawsuits? That seems tenuous. Every religion and every government in the history of humanity has much to answer for. Including massive coverups, hurting children, outright murder... Yet you seem to have a very specific antipathy toward the Catholic church. One might call that bigoted.
If you don't wish to discuss it, fine. But next time consider that before insulting a 2000 year old religion with over one billion members. Someone knowledgeable might be around to defend it.
Longevity and popularity doesn't inherently make a practice above criticism or make it right. I mean, slavery was practiced for millenia. Did you miss the part where she said she was raised Catholic? Familiarity is probably the primary reason.
Do you still follow this faith? I remember you saying you stopped. If it’s Truth, why don’t you follow it?
I didn't say it was above criticism. I'm saying her views aren't either. I'm saying no one should be surprised when they make a criticism about... Actually I'm not going to repeat myself. Maybe just reread it. I didn't miss that. What I missed were responses to my criticisms. What's your point? Her ideas are immune from criticism on Catholicism simply because she used to be Catholic? That doesn't make any sense.
I never said it was true. What I said was people who have a problem with it and blame it on the theology typically weren't taught it properly. The others seem to have an issue with abuses from the hierarchy. I certainly don't blame anyone for that. Who would? But that's a different matter altogether.
