I have had to do this exact thing. I crawled in the crate they had him in, laid next to him and held him in my arms. All of a sudden he just stopped licking me. I have NEVER cried so hard in my life. I could never allow him to leave this world alone, ever.

Oh yeah I get that, as I have been around for all our pets and animals too but I'm just saying his first sentence would have been enough in the reply, but he went on and on and on and was quite a jerk about it.

It's too easy for just anybody to own a pet. It is one thing to own a pet, quite another to be a pet owner. My girlfriend and I were talking one night about her not wanting the dog up on the bed because she was going to sleep. I said, "you treat him like a dog". She said, "how do you treat him" ?? "I said, like a God. All animals are very special and spiritual to me.....lol

My neighbors across the street have been keeping two pit bulls for their relatives for whatever reason, I dont know why they're bothering because they dont like them or let them inside, they just keep them chained outside all the time

And will probably make them aggressive for it. Yay.

Why do some people even have dogs...and i've said it before, pit bull owners are the worst about it. So many people get pit bulls for who knows what fucking reason...not the right reason, thats for sure

I was going somewhere with this...oh yeah, I hear those dogs howl all night, the sweetest, almost human like howls. They sound like babies. Its enough to break a gal's heart

You happen to be 100% right, most people who own pitbulls buy them for ALL the wrong reasons. I see how people treat many different dogs, I see skinny emaciated horses in fields, all of it really hurts. But then again, look at the way some people treat their kids, humans, what a waste.

True. And people who have kids they dont take care of often have animals they dont take care of as well

a lot of humans Iv'e met can barely take care of themselves.. but they're precisely the ones that spawn a dozen kids, get 6 big dogs, and then mistreat all of them.

a lot of calcium bearing foods have a high concentration of fat too, and fats do cause some dopamine and endorphin release, especially if your body's fat-starved.

A whole lot of interaction that I do on FB has to do with animals, as well as I do a lot in the community with them...and I've seen things, well PEOPLE really that are sickening. @Irminsul even though you felt that vet was being a jerk...I would have even been worse most probably..

There are so so many people that feel like their animal is disposable. The other day a 14 yr old Pomeranian was turned into the animal shelter to be euthanized because it was sometimes incontinent. DOGGY DIAPERS ARE A REAL THING. Thank God, many many people felt like I did, and the dog was up for adoption or rescue and was not being put to sleep because the owner was/is a fucking piece of shit. I've known people that turned their precious dog and/or cat in to the shelter because they were going on vacation, and well - it was just too much trouble to have to think about what to do with an animal when they were ready to go have a good time. :disappointed: Right here recently there was a dog that somehow, by the grace of God, survived after 30 days of not being fed or watered...it was here in upstate SC (Laurens, SC to be specific) and his story has spread all over the USA. An apparently idiot man left his big, healthy dog with an EX...to get "back" at him while she fed her own dog, she neither fed nor watered the one her ex left with her. We have all been elated that she has been jailed, and stands to face several charges. This story turned out well (for once) as he was rescued, has survived and is now being sponsored by a rescue in New York. I forget the rescue name...but you can even look him up...his name is Champ. These are just a very very few of the many situations that I know of. I'm actually glad a vet had the backbone to say what that one said. I wish quite a number of jackasses here in SC had that vet's statement tattooed on their faces. @Meliai have you heard the story about Champ? Yeah...I've signed a number of petitions about there being more severe charges for animal abuse/neglect.

During my years, unfortunately I've had to have a number of animals put to sleep, and it would honestly never occur to me NOT to be right there, stroking their head...telling them I would see them again when it was my time to cross the Bridge.

I think I did hear about it but I tend to tune out sad stories like that. I'm glad it had a happy ending though and he's okay

I dont understand people who abuse animals at all..from under what rock did they even crawl?

Thats why i dont ever go to Laurens

yeah...I have several contacts in Laurens, and it is as bad as hell for the animals. The jackass that runs the shelter LOVES to declare a "Code Red" on every dog there over a couple of weeks...and they NEVER advertise the animals they pick up. A lady I know started a Lost and Found Animal page just for Laurens. Everybody that has ever had an animal knows that accidents happen and at some point, most of them may escape for an adventure. But the poor people there have no way to know if their animals was ever there. Another of my contacts said that he (meaning the head of the shelter) is known to take as many as 10-15 dogs at a time to be PTS ... healthy, good dogs that would have been at the shelter a week and sometimes even less. That sob gets off on the "power" of being in charge of life and death for them - or that is the feeling many of us get.

There have been more starved animals found right there in that county, and the law-makers barely even give the abusers/killers a slap on the wrist. However, the bitch that had Champ is going to reap some of what she has sown, I am certain.

Now - for some funny and uplifting animal news. My son and my man-friend simply cannot bear it unless they find and pet every single cat here every time they visit. :D

Todd grabbed Gimli-Benny (the polydactyl) without sufficient petting and "notice"...and Gimli tagged him but good as he jumped down! He (Todd) knew not to say a word but "I shouldn't have grabbed him up like that." lol Smart man.
