I mean most movies require some suspension of disbelief.

Obviously I think I'd more trust the Big Black Dude I didn't know who just saved me from being shot from the White Dudes who I didn't know. I agree though being offered pills shortly thereafter would be sketch, but again, I think they are primarily metaphorical.

The slow motion 3d stuff tends to annoy me too. Sometimes I swear they make a movie just for the intention of putting all those effects in so a bunch of dude bros will go see it. They did a lot of those special effects in the Resident Evil movies and it felt like they threw it in there every three minutes. I hated those movies lol

I like horror, but it seems like no one can make a decent one any more that hasn't been remade a million times. Just give me a George Romero collection and I'm a happy camper.

I used to be able to watch horror 24/7 but it gets to me as I age. I'm not nearly I to serial killers and slashers anymore, I think I like psychological horror where it plays on my mind, and in my experience and opinions, it's the demon spirits and movies like the conjuring etc. that now scare me the most. I also know realistic alien abduction movies get me too, but they don't seem to make any good ones. Fire in the Sky I think it was called, based on "true" story, that freaked me.

And it's silly because I know that nothing really happens in the spirit movies. Weird shit happens, kid becomes demonised. House gets destroyed. Someone says a prayer. Done.

But it's all that shit that plays on your mind lol.

A good movie I saw was The Orphanage remake maybe late 2000s, a French movie I think. That was good, I liked that, kept me interested, not scared but I'm also useless at storyline sometimes. I can guess the next scene a lot but I can't follow subliminal hints lol. So I didn't pick the ending, which also was good.

The Conjuring was probably one of the last few good horror movies I've seen. Ghost stuff doesn't really scare me. Aliens do though lol when I first saw The Fourth Kind, it scared the shit out of me because I had been told it was a true story. Mindfuck horror is the best. If you like being scared anyway! If the movie doesn't make me think about the absolute terror the characters are experiencing, then it's no good. I've been wanting to see Fire in the Sky!

Other than aliens (has to be realistic though like you said, Irminsul), not much scares me. I don't know if you'd count things like A Serbian Film as horror, but it certainly horrified me. Any movie about horrible things people do terrifies me because it could happen.

Oh 100%!!!! I tell you what did it to me. I was drunk. I was stoned. I was way too zoned out to be watching movies. And my wife decided that we should watch that stupid human centipede. Honestly I thought it would be a lot different, like some b grade dumb fucken.. Human centipede. So I wasn't ready for the torture part. And I was zoned out so my mind was open to new thinking. And it hit me. That, maybe not this stuff on the movie, but fucked up shit happens all the time as we even type this, horrible only in the movie type things, but it's not just in the movies.

That emotional switch never flicked back the other way. I look at the books of serial killers I have, all the fucked up movies and books. Kind of sickened me. Though I've gotten over the books and the music, there's always time for some messed up music, I still don't really watch the serial killer stuff and if I do, I have to be sedated and so blahzay to not get me to think about it.

Hmm, I'd sub genre a bit more.

    Alien is thriller
    Aliens is action
    Texas chainsaw is slasher
    Halloween is slasher
Dawn of dead, really I'm not sure. Gore.

But that's just me. I think horror to me means like, real scary shit, like when you're a kid you're horrified of what's in that dark kind of thing. So that's why psychological spirit stuff and the realistic aliens freak me out, cause that shits in the dark.

Signs was a good movie, it freaked me out because you never got to see much plus they pulled my chord on the whole crop circle realism stuff. I'd say it was a horror/thriller.

Not a horror movie but an alien one with a unique psychological aspect to it, did you see Arrival? If so, what did you think of it?

Well I love Jeremy Renner, so that was a positive but I guess if I'm honest I just didn't understand what was going. Premonitions and deja vu stuff that she went through towards the end spun me a little and I think the type of alien portrayed was not a psychological scare either. The greys, and humanoid aliens are the ones I am afraid of.

Since I have a sarcastic sense of humour, my initial opinions on the movie weren't that great because I thought, why are these aliens trying to teach humans their language to communicate, surely they could just learn earth language? I watched it again knowing I had missed something and people were talking it up. It was a bit deeper the second time. I probably need to watch it again. It even took me 3 times to watch fight club to get through the subtal hints lol.

I was sad the aliens left though, because obviously, I wanted to know more about them etc. But I feel they were peaceful. And the rock ships weren't doing much for me either. I don't know what alien spacecraft I'm into, not traditional saucers. Maybe just glowing balls of light.
