i went to three proms in my two years of being prom aged. they weren't that fun, but hey, it was something to do. but, i really don't see how whether or not you attended your high school's prom is relevant to who you would ask to a hypothetical hipforum prom all these years later.
I went to my proms, and I even had fun. As Undies said, it was something to do. I would definitely go to HF prom though--I love to get drunk and dance. Who will join me on the dance floor?
whatever it is, it's gonna be epic... after all, @McFuddy - much like foghorn leghorn, keeps his feathers numbered for just such emergencies and occasions.
I didn't think very highly of school organized dances when I was in High School, but all my girlfriend's friends did, and I think she did too. (I don't talk to her anymore or I'd just ask her. She's married with kids... anyway...) And I didn't know how to dance in high school (after I taught myself how to rave dance - eh, it's passable lol. I hop...), so I really didn't want to go embarrass myself. So, I went because she wanted to. We left early and went to a hotel where I proceeded to get drunker than her. It was a really alarmingly bad experience. But I'm glad I actually went to a prom during my life. My parents have a picture of me in a rental suit. I don't think it was a tuxedo, but I don't remember. And for hipforums prom I don't have a forum crush, so I'm going stag.
We had some school discos. I was a bodypopper in a crew. We would have challenges. We were casuals. You wouldn't get this. London. East End.
Popping is soo cool here. Or at least it was when I first started raving. I'm sure it still is. It's not easy for me. I can't do it. Can you melbourne shuffle?
I wasn't THAT good. But I was okay. We did The Egyptian. L.A. Locking. Electric Bugaloo. I just used to make shit up and pop. Still do sometimes. Popping evolved. Like Graffiti. Good times though.
London has some really cool graffiti on the train tracks. I can't remember between what stations, but we were staying near East Croydon I think. I was impressed because I used to like tagging art when I was in my teens, though I wasn't any good at that either.
OMG what is this?? I leave for two days. My God, people! It might be prom but we're adults. Lose the punch bowl. Get this table out of here and we will set up an open bar over there. You! DJ. You set up over there. You'll pull from my pre-approved playlist heavy on feminist punk, 90s Riot Grrrl, lots of modern-day indie bands and electronic pop music--and I mean stuff like The Julie Ruin, not Katy Perry. Keep that out of here. No cliched prom music. Slow dances come from artists like Mazzy Star, not Boyz II Men or whoever that is... OMG is this seaweed? I'm a looking at seaweed? I feel like I'm in a kelp bed, what is this? This year's theme is A Day at the Beach. A Day at the Beach. Not a Watery Grave in Davie Jones' Locker. We have 20 artificial palm tress in the hall that need to be potted and placed strategically around the room. And tear down this seaweed nightmare... Okay-chop chop! Clock's tickin', guys!
