By sheer luck, I was born in a country that I’ve never had to worry about this. Think about that. Sheer luck as to where you’re born.

Roughly 10% of Mexico city is now in the US illegally. While Canada has become a sort of bedroom community and close neighbor, Mexico has become the slum of the US, in much the same way the Palestinians have become a slum for Israel to use for a cheep labor pool. Like the US, too much money has suddenly been concentrated in Mexico thanks to human and drug trafficking, but we don't recognize entire villages heads being cut off by drug cartels as a political problem.

Poverty sucks, even when surrounded by enormous wealth, because the money and the guns do all the talking worth listening to, while everything is fake news and nobody gives a damn about anything anyone else has to say.

This is millions of miles of diference!! Neither the parents or the children were rounded up at gunpoint, placed on a train, shipped out if their homelands and then separated for the purposes of either the gas chamber or slave labor camps.

Not even close to the same thing!!!!

I'm comparing when parents were separated from their children. Those same feelings likely occur, and while different situations as I've stated, what's happening here is becoming a humanitarian crisis.

You have a very good point.
The immigration authorities do not have an easy job and it is easy to jump to the wrong conclusions without knowing the whole truth of any situation.

While it’s wrong to live here illegally, what would any of us do if our lives were at risk? If we were forced to flee our country or face death? The instinct would be to go to a safer haven.

presenting yourself at the border for asylum is not illegal, people. If you come through a checkpoint and tell them you need asylum you are coming here legally.

Weigh the risks and rewards. Dont come to America if you dont want your kid taken from you. We cant take in everybody.

I dont believe its luck. Everyone is having exactly the experience they need to have.

You say that because you’re here. I could easily have been born in the Middle East, living under very different laws. As a woman, with not the same rights as men, for example. That is luck. And I’m grateful to have the freedoms I do. You have freedoms too that you might not have in other countries. Of course, your birthplace doesn’t dictate the quality of your whole life but we might be fleeing to find a better way if we weren’t born where we were. Just something to think about.

I hope for your sake, you’re never in their shoes. You might eat your words, someday.

He's using a spiritual concept (fate) to justify a decidedly selfish and unspiritual point of view (fuck poor people from other countries)
