I want equality for everyone. That’s what feminism professes to do.

Please don’t put words in my mouth. You don’t know me at all.

No worries. You assumed wrong. I have my opinion on feminism, it’s subjective just like anyone’s opinion. I’m not looking for agreement or debate over it.

Except it is not about the opposite of feminism. Its about declaring yourself not to be one (anymore), because others give feminism a bad name. The individual, non affiliating feminist is not less of a feminist because they're not outward identifying as one, or not supporting the actions of a certain group of feminists that dominate the media. It seemed to me Deirdre proclaimed not to be one anymore because of these things.

For me the feminism is just a crock of shit lol. Like I get women's right yeah yeah but I find feminism to be detrimental to equality and I also find it very hypocritical. But that's just me. :)

Usually you find the ardent hatred feminists in the political scene and that ain't where I pitch my tent I tell you hwat.

You seem to think being a feminist is the only option to seeking equality for all. It’s not. It’s paved the way, but it’s now getting in the way of equality for all, my opinion.

That's likely because you already reap all of the benefits feminists/egalitarians have strived to implement in society.
You would probably have a different mindset on feminism if you lived like half a century ago. Certainly a whole century.

What's hypocritical about feminism in the general sense? Or are you talking about a specific aspect?

Well I mean like in a hypocritical sense that those women who argue ardently come across just as bad as a man who thinks we should be in the kitchen. You're right I've never been specifically subjected to it. I always made sure I got paid for the work I do lol. Correctly. I know places like bum fuck America are different. But to sit there so vehemently and abuse men like they do, it's distasteful to me, not what a woman stands for. The way they go about it specifically from what I've seen. Which may not be the norm I admit, but yeah. Personal experience in watching.

For many men, feminism can be a headfuck. I believe in equality in differentiation, but feminism has all happened very quickly and it is a lot for some men to get their head around. I disagree with Machinist's extreme conclusions, but can see the root cause. The natural order has been overturned seemingly overnight. Men don't see their place in society anymore, don't feel needed or useful. Suicide is now the biggest killer of Men under 45. Pornography, I see as a reaction against feminism. And I believe Women have just the same capacity for evil as Men. My Mother was a hardened feminist all her life, and growing up with this really messed me up. I like some of the egalitarian values she instilled in me, but growing up with her and without a Father ensured that my psychology and emotional make-up became far from normal, as I'm sure many of you here who may read me will know. LOL.

You assume wrong ;) I just feel a certain group of feminists is hijacking the term/label as a whole and is distorting it.
I see the purpose of distancing yourself from that, and also see no need to primarily identify as a feminist (on the contrary: why define one's whole self on one aspect), but by doing that you don't stop becoming a feminist. But it doesn't really matter ;)
Feminism is not getting in the way of equality, that's technically impossible. Certain feminists get in the way of equality (in the way of both equality and feminism on itself. As feminism is merely an aspect of societal equality, namely the one focussing on the female part of said society). This is what i was trying to convey ;) :p

Okay, fair enough. I think I might agree with that ^^^ lol

    Thanks for explaining it better.

Thing is, feminism doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it’s always changing and evolving and there are different layers to it.

Originally women weren't even welcome in most 'clubs' or bars. Or in male sports competitions. So much has changed that it may be hard to imagine what purpose it used to had. But when i take notice of Irms posting her wedding stuff i think that should already tell her enough.

Statistically, Women are safer drivers than Men. I'd much rather be driven by a Woman than a Man. Better conversation too.

Naturally. And it might get less merit once it seems the equality has been accomplished. That seems to be the case now, in combination with certain feminists going over the edge of reason.
Like, take this waves thing. It is often put like this third or fourth feministic waves are bogus and exaggerated in purpose and deed (i tend to agree), therefor it is often concluded feminism has reached its purpose years ago and it has basically lost its purpose (i disagree).
Just because it is historically very useful to define a first feministic wave and a second one doesn't mean there's a third one going on now. But that also doesn't mean feminism has become obsolete. Most people who see current feminism mainly as this third feministic wave (both criticizers and uhm well 'libtards') seem to be at odds with basic feminism and what its ment to accomplish: something no egalitarian is against (and no, one doesn't have to identify as an egalitarian in order to be one. Being for equality technically already makes you one. Same with being a feminist) ;)
