I am sick and tired of the gun advocate crowd dominating this forum topic. It's about proposals for more gun control. Your argument for less gun control is falling on deaf ears for the record. I don't have much appreciation for much of anything gun-related remotely, rhetorically, or otherwise. You do understand that Americans will not stand for gun violence, do you not? We might look at a poll to see where the majority stands.

My understanding is that these were county sheriff deputies. Regardless, when ordinary police officers from any agency arrive at the scene of one of these shootings, they are supposed to go directly into the building in groups and confront the shooters (even if the officers in a group are from different agencies and have never met each other before). If a campus patrol consists of sworn law enforcement officers, this applies to them too.

If there had been only one officer on the scene, there would be a reason for him to wait for more officers to arrive so they could go in as a group. Multiple officers on the scene had no excuse for not going in.

Yeah there's a big doff between a county sheriff's department and an armed team used for guns blazing.

The job of an ordinary police officer includes going into buildings in groups to confront shooters. If they don't want to do the job, then they shouldn't be police officers.

The tactic is to repeat the same discredited arguments over and over again.

They're getting to be pretty boring.

Well go ahead and make your proposals. Nobody's stopping you.

And for the record, when someone uses the issue of pistol grips as justification for banning rifles that have them, I don't think it's out of line to ask them to defend their position.

I'm sorry, but concerning the alleged danger of pistol grips on rifles, I'm afraid that you are the one repeating the same failing argument against them.

Individual rights ARE everybody else's rights. As long as I'm not harming you or society, I should have the right to do or own anything I want. There is no inherent danger of citizens owning ARs as more people are killed by knives than rifles as a whole.
If that's the case then ypu should accept the current standing on so called assault weapons. The government ruled that they're ok

Thats the problem. People who dont give a crap about guns or have anything to do with guns want to increase gun control. Whats it to them because they have no horse in the race.

The grips are not harmless. They are meant to modify the gun into the type of gun that is currently illegal, or grandfathered in at great expense to own. That is why you want to own them. It's MUCH cheaper and easier to get a "grip" that allows a gun to fire faster then go through the background checks of telling Uncle Sam you want a full auto weapon. How many of those are floating around when you have not been able to buy them in 30 years? Those that are belong to people like you who are not looking to part with them.

Gun owners were not happy when "full auto" guns were outlawed. Same outcry as with with the Ar-15 now. "it's none of their business I need it" etc. It has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with hypothetical war.

What more argument or point is there to make? Currently they are legal. Gun owners pretend they are something they are not because they fear the person who does not own guns taking their guns. The end.

Actually, I was wondering the same about some of you. How many AR-15s have been used in school shootings?

I still dont get why AR15s and 30 round mags need to be illegal.

More people are killed with handguns and the VA tech shooting which was more deadly than parkland was carried out with handguns.

60% of those deaths are suicides.

Yeah, you just summed up the rationale for vilifying the pistol grip on the AR-15: It makes it look like an illegal gun, and therefore it's harmful. Now how silly is that?

    Are you triggered?

Also it aint about less gun control. Its about no additional gun control.

    Big difference.
