Oh are they? Actually as was pointed out in another thread the mainstream media is beholden to libel and slander laws as well as their own corporate regulations generally requiring fact checking as well as verification of at least 2 sources. Fox News gets around this by labeling themselves entertainment rather than news Smaller "news" sites like The Gateway Pundit get around this by functioning in the same vein as the National Enquirer. And not giving a fuck about the verification of sources of course Does corporate media create a narrow, slanted view of the world? Absofuckinglutely, you're preaching to the choir on that one brother. But they cant get away with outright lying because of laws and lawsuits.
Every profitbased news outlet makes use of catching headliners. But as Meliai explained in our societies its mainly those alt right media who mainly get the attention they get because of overly use of said practices.
Well thats one part we will definitely disagree on. 19% is ridiculous. 27% is even more ridiculous European Union value added tax - Wikipedia Free trade my ass
I'm not sure I understand how VAT works 100% so someone correct me if I'm wrong. But here goes: VAT is not a tax imposed on imports, it's imposed on everything. So you can't really compare it to import tariffs. VAT is not really paid by any company importing anything. It's passed on to the consumer directly. Oz ha VAT too. It's called Goods and Services Tax.
Ahh, the devil is in the details. Its sneaky. Input and output credits within the EU. But for non EU members 19 to 27% is paid at the border. So whichever EU importer it is, they are the final customer. What do think happens most of the time, that EU importer will cop that 19%, or charge the non EU exporter. An import tax without calling it an import tax. Hungary charges the 27%, im guessing no one exports into the EU through hungary first. Australias VAT/GST is only 10% and our imports arent double dipped like that
I think I get it. The Steele Dossier, which was funded by the Democrats, then was used to leak to the mainstream media, which was used to begin the investigations against Trump and Collusion. So with that chain we have 2 sources, the Steele Dossier and the Democrats. And then it goes to CNN. Got it. What can go wrong with that? Its about like saying that the Republican committee has concluded their investigation and absolved Trump of any collusion and that got picked up by Fox. Both are valid news stories. So they both must be true. Meanwhile no CNN coverage of the fact that Obama knew of Russian meddling well before the elections and did nothing about it. And no coverage of the fact that Obama had wiretapped the RNC and Trump. Nothing at all biased in the media. Which news agency reported that the Parkland shooter was a member of a white supremacist group? I'm sure they have 2 valid sources before they spoke.
I'm not sure why you're arguing with me, I said the MSM can be biased and can creative a sort of artificial narrative by reporting only on select topics. I generally only get my news from Reuters and the AP so we're not at odds here. I said they can be biased, they just cant outright lie without being slapped with a huge law suit. As for the Parkland killer, a white supremacist leader came forward to the media and claimed him. The media reported on that and then retracted it. But I agree, that is a problem with the MSM, they're so eager for ratings and feeding into the 24/7 news cycle that they go into frenzied reporting mode after a tragedy rather than spending a day or two delving deep into the matter at hand and then reporting. The whole 24/7 news cycle isnt a good thing, I'm not arguing that.
Don't worry. I screw it up half the time. It's supposed to be @username, but I guess I can't spell most folks' usernames. Anyway, proceed.
Why have the republicans done away with the fairness doctrine? If it was reinstated--Fox news would be DONE!! They'd have to spend 90% of their time allowing those that have been lied about---to come on and rebut, which would be easy.
Sure they pay it at the border for imports but the importer is not the final customer. And it's not only imports. All goods, even those produced locally, get VAT slapped on them.
So, Cynthia Nixon is thinking she wants to be governor of New York. I can only wonder what her track record contains that would be useful for such a role. It reminds me of a bit from Back to the Future when Doc asks Marty "Ok future boy, who's the president in 1985. Marty replies "Ronald Reagan". Doc then says "The actor? Who's the secretary of state, Jerry Lewis?" Do we really need so many actual actors in politics? As for 2018, I personally think it's time for a serious shakeup. As in ALL incumbents get voted out and hit the streets. We have one in Georgia, David Scott, who keeps getting reelected and already has signs in peoples' yards all over the Atlanta area. And yet, he consistently votes against the wishes of his constituency. Jane, my wife, met him when she was trying to get a bill passed to keep smaller hospitals in service to their tiny communities. He voted against it which shocked a lot of people since most of these smaller hospitals were in predominantly black communities. I think that while everyone is still confused about what kind of toilet paper Trump uses it's an excellent time to toss all of Washington into the air and see who falls through the net on the way down. Do we really want all those old fashioned thinkers running things for even a day longer? These are people who think marijuana is as dangerous as heroin. Quit voting for them already.
Doesn't much matter if you get all new politicians. The overall system won't permit a lot of change. Lobbyists will see to that. Remember the kid who asked Rubio to stop accepting NRA donations? Not happening. Forget this shit man. They're all bought and paid for.
