Great performance! How he conveyed his feelings after getting buttraped.. I believed him But seriously: this movie is a highlight in cinema. It is said so often its cliché and people who don't see it go 'yeah, there we go again..' but its true.
I've seen it... Anyway, here we go again... Movie's retarded. I'm sorry, but it is. Ooh...edgy dialogue for the sake of being edgy. Violence for the sake of violence. Story told out of order for the sake of telling story out of order. We get it, Quentin. You love pointless violence, non-linear storytelling, and the N-word.
This is the crux. You may also just have a problem with other people enjoying cult movies like this. Like, some worries? And indeed common elements like making violence and offensive language look cool. The lengthy trivial dialogues are highly entertaining. It's really about portraying the characters in a certain way. In combination with unexpected and often absurd plottwists, which we can go along with for a large part because of how well and typical these characters are portrayed and brought to live. Yeah. Another impressive achievement: its art and kitch at the same time :-D Usually its pretty clear to me a movie is mainly one or the other. Not with Tarantino. He makes pulp art.
Yea.. I don't care for, for example, the use of the n-word in "Hateful Eight". I thought it was gratuitous and unnecessary. But as you pointed out, that isn't a stretch for Tarentino. I've sort of lost interest in his films for this reason. "Hero" was pretty cool; albeit it was in Chinese. I liked that one, despite the story being out of order. I would watch "Hero" again. Not "Hateful Eight" though. Booo!
Ugh.. no way! I started to watch it, and then they busted out the n word, really nonchalant-like, as though it should be acceptable. Quentin Tarentino does not get a pass on using the n word anymore than the latest new school rapper does.
A lot of people don't like it and I understand that. The N word is used more than you can ever imagine. Even moreso behind closed doors in many households, black and white. I don't let it bother me when it's being used in a movie, because it's a movie. The producer is trying to put you in a frame of mind to the mood of the characters, and what better way to portray some dirty low down folks than to use profane language that may get under some people's skin. Yes his movies are dark, senseless and extremely violent....but we live in it in this world, and he's just portraying it on film. Some of us have seen this shit up close and personal, where others make every effort to shield themselves from it.
I disagree. What producers are really doing is enabling the ideology. That language carries with it eons of racially charged sentimentality. It normalizes the use of something that should remain historical in nature. I think it's a mistake.
