there is dozens of different types of snow

    most snow isnt wet

makes a huge difference in driving depending on type of snow...thats why you see southerners crashing all the time...they dont understand it

its supposed to be mid-50's today, and hit 60 on monday. we got our 2 foot thermometer so we are going to temp the compost and probably turn it today. expecting sunchokes in the mail one of these days soon. i have two patches planned, but i think i want to do three. hubby got me some nice new work gloves, and the big kid too. they are a ladies small, but they are orange and they fir him, so hes not too bothered. i am so antsy to get things moving out there. and we have to build our coop and run before we get our chickens, so im super-antsy to get that done.
oh, has anyone moved gooseberries? i planted them last year, they should actually grow and produce this year, but i know we will need to dig up that area of the garden at some point. i was thinking i would see if they do grow and produce this year and then move them in preparation for next year. one of my artichokes is probably going to have to move too.

oh, and i was thinking i would do a super-simple fence with wide horizontal boards, and paint it as a sign to that fuckhead nosy neighbor.
    wildflowers are not weeds.
    weeds are reparative anyway.
    permaculture is pretty.
    feed the bees.
    et cetera

hey, new guy? you can add quotes to your reply so people know what you are responding to, and you can quote/ answer more than one thing in a post.
popped in today and thought something crazy was going on.
anyway, hi. im quiet, but usually very present. ive lived here in hipforums since 2003, except for a few hiatus, hiatuses, hiati?... but we always seem to make it back home, dont we? i think thats why people are so open here. im careful in some ways, and in others not so much. but i do probably have a little more trust in this particular corner of the internet than i do others.

    wao thats interesting,
i would like to learn more of that stuff too, gardening etc, it is on my wishlist to become self sufficient one day, there is lots of things to be learned, and I dont know why they dont teach these things to children at school, thats lost golden knowledge. Yes I agree this forum is best so far, i also feel well here, only chat here
maybe do another thread for that topic?

look up Dr Elaine Ingham's videos on youtube. hubby and i are doing the permaculture course with Matt Powers right now, and he learned a lot from her. also highly recommend the Fouch Family Off Grid (Esther is Carla Emery's youngest daughter, Emery wrote and revised the Encyclopedia of Country Living) and Off Grid with Doug and Stacy.

i dont generally start topics... its not my way.
my way is to drink, smoke, and know things. quietly.

wao that is soo interesting , i will look at these people you mentioned , on youtube

your way of life is THE only way of life, because you are life , and life is you,
in some ancient languages the words "religion" and "way of life" are the same

and yep, i know , women dont start topics, men need to do the 1st step, always:smirk:

you better watch your assumptions. it is not my job to teach, it is the job of others to learn. when i put myself out i often get shut down or ignored, i feel better when i dont. i will answer questions, but i do not offer all that i am, dressed with fixins, at an open table.

i think the regulars here know that. there are a million topics i could start. i got opinions on a lot of them. ive done a lot of looking into them. but i am not interested in being hounded because i started a thread, putting my name right up there in new posts/ threads. easy target, versus risk management.

so, i normally stick to the active chat thread in the SL, unless i have something specific to say/ inquire about; and if it outweighs the risk involved. no amount of sly side-eye winky hides the thinly veiled insult and misogyny inherent in what you said.
i do not accept your insult, i am not here to cater to your whims. i would gladly teach you everything i know, but you have to buy the cow. neither the meat, nor the milk, nor the companionship is offered free.
the people here have value, they bring value and companionship to my existence. you are a new face. i reserve judgement, but this Love is not free to any takers.

    i totally agree with you

    and....

your "thread fears" are solved because David0301 registered on here, im certainly also interested in the same topics , i dont like insults either, and at first i did not know how to handle online-disrespect either, my "problem" is I can not draw the line between internet/real life, because to me its all the same, I see people as people, not as keyboards

I am sooooooo tired. I'm not going to make it through the day. I wish I had the whole George Constanza nap situation going on under my desk.
