Oh, it was fantastic. Best movie I've seen in a long time.

And I hesitate to sound like a gushing nerd who just got back from the latest superhero movie, but it was an instant "Katie Classic." One of my favorite movies now. The Founder was pretty damn good but this blew it away.

The casting was perfect, the script was solid, and there were lots of quirky elements like breaking the fourth wall and interviews and some really interesting visual things going on. It managed to be very funny while tackling some very intense subject matter.

It's always interesting watching a film based on a real event that you remember seeing. I remember all these people and what happened and even knew of Tonya Harding before all of this scandal. (I've always been kind of an Olympics nerd)

And if the film is accurate, than Tonya Harding just became a personal hero. She's fierce and independent and rebellious and she's real; she is who she is and she's okay what that, and fuck anyone who isn't okay with it. She was portrayed as a very white trash low class tomboy in a sport that seems to be half beauty pageant. In ways, she was shown to be a feminist icon--despite the fact that she let a man beat the shit out of her. And those domestic violences are intense. They can be tough to watch. At one point I jumped out of my seat like it was a horror film.

But I watched the movie and wanted to hang out with her. She's my kinda girl. I'd totally be her friend. I kept thinking of Bikini Kill's "Rebel Girl" throughout the whole movie. Should have used that song for the end credits.

But yeah, it's a great movie. Way more than mindless entertainment, but has a lot to say and manages to do it in a way that doesn't come off preachy. Has a message; not an agenda.

    Highly recommend it.

I have GOT to be missing something.

Why is anyone in favor of this girl who got her competition kneecapped?
How is being a petty ass loser something to admire?

Nothing against you personally, Neoprene, it just boggles my mind how she can be considered any kind of positive icon.

I said if the movie is accurate...I don't know what it is. But the way she is portrayed in the movie she is pretty awesome. But I have no clue how much of that translates to real life.
