"That long hair makes you look stupid! "

As they might say in my home town, "Who axed you?"

This is I several years back in Carlsbad, California. The windmill is a restaurant known for its split pea soup. I have placed my two hands in front of my gut so that my belly would not be visible. And I am wearing vertical stripes to make me look tall and thin.
I grow my hair for about 2-3 years (maybe more because I no longer keep a record of my haircuts). Ultimately, I donate the growth to a wigmaker. What she does with it is of no concern to me. I like her and I have known her for a long time. She cuts. And then we go out for dinner. She doesn't charge me, but I wind up leaving a cash tip near her appointment book.
Growing hair connects me with my inner hippie. This is not the same for all. I have known numerous men with longhair who are anything but hip. As I have aged, the hairline has receded. There is a possibility that I might be able to be fitted for a hairline. Do I want to wear a hair replacement system? No. I am concerned with what I see when I look in the mirror.

Body dysmorphic disorder causes people to feel worried that parts of their body are
flawed in some way. It's related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). People with
this mental health condition spend hours concerned that something is wrong with their
looks
.

I haven't reached this level and I doubt that I will. When I felt too overweight for my own comfort (and noted that many trusted websites referred to the level of overweight as the category of obese), I decided to simplify my diet and eating habits. I picked a caloric intake per day and consumed that amount using a food scale or measuring cups. The result was a weight loss of about 40 pounds. That was started about 3 years ago. I am teetering these days. I'm told that I'd need to raise my metabolism and this could be done by certain weight exercises.

Anyway, I've gotten off topic.

As long as I can run a brush or comb through my hair, I am happy with it and with myself. Short of going naturally bald, I doubt I will do anything to it or about it. Besides, I have a passport picture to take before the year is over!
