So..about a 100kms.to travell to Ranakpur..
it's a difficult trip..return in 1 day..I should have stayed..
in Ranakpur overnight...my mistake..had booked 3 nights Udaipur..
I made a mistake by going there as well...I should have taken a
straight bus..I landed up in Phalna junction railway..
it could have been much easier..my mistake..finally I reached..
Ranakpur by bus from Phalna..now..this Jain temple..
is really stunningly beautiful..look at pics in the links here...
this temple lies in the middle of nowhere actually..
there are a couple of temples..Adinath is the most important..
going in there..is done barefoot..or on your socks..ahah...
leather objects are not allowed..Jains are very funny folks..
when I visited..tourists were allowed only at certain hours..
I believe it was from noon to 16.00h??maybe this has changed now?
I did not take a conducted sightseeing tour..I usually never did...
inside...it's so damn clean...1444 pillars in marble.
and not 1 is the same..how could they build this??
I could mirror myself on the floor..Jain ladies dressed in white..
with a face mask...because they don't kill animals..
the mask is for not swallowing insects like flies etc..funny..
what I noticed as well in here..outside..it was scorching hot..
but inside this complex..it was cool..like airconditioned..
effect of the pillars maybe??light and shadow effects??
I was really stunned by the carvings on the pillars..it's amazing..
the Jain religion was founded by Mahavira..there are 2 sects..
digambara=they walk around completeley naked..
funny sight..I met some..in a railway platform on the way to
Bombay..suddenly a digambara Jain..nobody says anything..
it's accepted..that's India as well..mystical place really..
the second sect are the *svetambara*always dressed in white..
mask before their face..the digambara's have a holy pilgrimage
place in Karnataka state..I will rapport about it..but I did not visit..
let's say digambara's are Indian nudists..bwaahah...
I bet they are a few millions strong in India..they live according
to strict rules...and practise *ahimsa*=non violence..
complex religion..with 24 masters(tirthankara's)
some of their rules...1/don't kill any living creature...2/don't steal..
3/don't pay to much attention to material things..4/no adultery..
5/don't eat at night..well...well...I've sinned to most of these things..
jain monks never take a bus..because a bus can kill animals..
jain women..often wiping the street..because you might step upon..
an ant...a fly..they go very far into these beliefs..I can tell you..
but..I respect them..maybe sounds very silly..
I see in this forum..lots of opposition in attitudes..opinions..
does that mean..that everybody is good??or bad..NO..
we should LEARN to accept one another..with our good and bad things..
people have judged me..oh yes..in my own village...late sixties...
I grew my hair long..got a beard even..bwaahah...
my dad swallowed lots of negative vibes because of that..
on top of that..I had a degree..
but..I refused to work...crazy,isn't it??now...more then 40 years
later...folks know me in my village..they accept me..like I am..
enough of that ranting...so enjoy these 2 links about Ranakpur..
comments are very welcome..I wish all of you..inner peace...
