Oslo is a beautiful town..situated on the Oslofjord..
first day...we took a tramway=trikk..from the Youth hostel..
to the central Railway station..from there we walked the whole length
of Karl Johangate...a street lined with shops, musea, caf?'s,restaurants etc..
which leads finally to the Royal Palace..it was a sunny day in August..
lots of people strolling around..for Oslo folks it's a place to be seen..
the shops were not for my wallet..we did not do any musea that day..
the Slottsparken near the Royal Palace is a nice place to just sit and
relax..specially on a sunny day..Norvegians love sunshine..
the Royal Palace itself is a very beautiful building...nicely situated on a hill..
we went into a supermarket..bought some cheap food..as told before..
Norway is a very expensive country..we went to Radhusplassen afterwards..
to find out in the tourist office how to go by ferry to Bygdoy..
we took tram and bus..since we bought some transport pass..
close to Aker Brygge which is near Radhusplassen..lots of open air caf?s..
it's the harbour district...lots of boat traffic..a fresh breeze was welcome..
overlooking the harbour..is a castle called Akershus slott..
our ferry for Bygdoy would leave from near this place..
we intended to visit 2 musea next day..Viking ship museum and Norsk folkemuseum..
both were worthwhile..we returned by tram to the Youth hostel..
had our evening food there..had to be reserved in the morning..
