Kicking a Tenant to the Curb

The song is not really relevant to the subject. I feel like a relationship ends when I tell a tenant that I no longer want him in my home. I have had people leave without any notice or warning; we generally never speak again after that. And I have had two die on me (that bites!). But I feel sad whenever I have to ask someone that his time here is limited.
This particular lad began as a student in a community college. I don't think he finished the course work. He spends an inordinate amount of time in his room with the door closed. He games with others whom he presumably knows. I've asked him what the name of the game is but have since forgotten what he had said.
During his stay here he would pay on time and in full every month. But, for the past 7 or 8 months, the payments were slow and in smaller amounts. These days I get absolutely nothing. So yesterday I sent him a message on Messenger and today I sent him a message on Messages. Believe it or not, I don't have his email address and the only other way I know how to communicate is to send an email to his cell phone number which is silly since he reads messages from Messages or Messenger anyway.
Personally, I prefer a face-to-face nose-to-nose and toe-to-toe tête-à-tête, but I live and work with people who seem to have attention deficit and find that method of communication to be too stifling and conforming in structure. Such people should be thankful that they need not participate in robust discussion.
Still and all I do feel sad about this. The thought of telling another person, "This is for your own good," or "You will thank me for this somewhere down the line," doesn't comfort the person in the moment. And I have also befriended and lived with people who have varying psycho-social issues (whether diagnosed or un-diagnosed). I tend not to delve into the mental or spiritual statuses of friends and tenants unless they opt to share such things with me.
In any event, this will give me a chance to kick up some dust bunnies and throw some unwanted furniture away.
