Stand-up comedy is a performance directed to a live audience, where the performer stands on a stage and delivers humorous and satirical monologues sometimes incorporating physical acts. These performances are typically composed of rehearsed scripts but often include varying degrees of live crowd interaction. Stand-up comedy consists of one-liners, stories, observations, or shticks that can employ props, music, impressions, magic tricks, or ventriloquism.

A performer in this genre can be known by the masculine and gender-neutral terms stand-up comedian and stand-up comic, or by the feminine term stand-up comedienne. Performances can take place in various venues, including comedy clubs, comedy festivals, bars, nightclubs, colleges, or theaters.

I'm thinking I must have mentioned somewhere amidst my posts that I am not a fan of SEINFELD. The situational comedy of New Yorkers who are 'friends' but who pick on each other or demean each other is not my idea of funny. Friends are supposed to be friends; no competition, no back stabbing, no jealousy.

So someone told me to look at Matteo Lane; a 30-something year old gay comedian from Illinois. He was trained to sing classically, and he likes to cook Italian. His routine is predictive, and the format is very unappealing. Instead of discussing situations or telling stories or providing an educational point of view on some matter, he calls upon the audience and picks on them. If the person is paired, then it's 2 for the price of 1. "What's your name? What do you do for a living? Where are you from? Are you two together? Top or bottom?"

There is a lesbian who follows a similar format with the exception of her making horrifying faces that look like sciences from THE EXORCIST.. I do like comedy. I just don't find any of this funny.

I have since looked her up. The name is Jessica Kirson (she actually has a master's degree in social work). And she's wasting her life on this kind of sh*tty performance with a potty mouth?
