It's not in the native repertoire. And I got the recipe for it from the back of the 16 ounce bag of dried peas.
Puerto Rican friends turned me onto this. I would definitely make it more often if I could find a vegetarian recipe for it. The one on the bag of the bag of peas calls for bacon and a ham hock. I'm sure there must be a good meatless option out there. It's on my list of things to find.
