Rajasthan - Wikitravel
I've always wanted to go to Jaipur/Rajasthan. Never got north of Mumbai (and that's after six months exploring India!)
yeah Skip,Rajasthan is really worthwhile...I gave lots of impressions in my old blog but unfortunately it seems to be gone..anyway..i would advise to stay few days in Jaipur, the pink city, palaces, musea, the bazars, visit Amber Fort as an excursion, move on by train to Udaipur...i did love that city very much..i stayed the cheapest possible==the railway retiring room..then i also can recommend the village of Ranakpur in the middle of nowhere with a Jain temple which is one of the best i have seen in India,Mount Abu as got a good one as well..then there is Jodhpur,Bikaner and also Jaisalmer..i will try to put some links...around Bikaner there is a very peculiar temple dedicated to rats++google for Deshnoke..real pity my blog is lost since it was a treasure of information for any Rajasthan traveller..tigerlover....
Jodpur can be baking hot...they have a special kind of leather sandal==i think it's called jatu?the Quila'Fort)is worthwhile a visit==beware for the langur monkeys(ahah)
the rat temple of Deshnoke near Bikaner..pity i missed this temple...i was in a hurry from Bikaner to Jaisalmer..strange Indian cultures...
Jaisalmer is specially know as the golden city..the Fort is the main attraction, and the lovely decorated haveli houses..also camel safaris into the Thar desert..
a good general tourist link on Rajasthan state...i stayed few weeks in Jaipur since my future wife was a professor on the Maharanis girls Univ there..I got good memories of the city, the people, bazars, festivals etc....try to be in Jaipur for the Holi or the Diwali festival...
