I bought Steve Hillage (Live Herald) at the same time I bought Afterswish, since I couldn't remember which was which when they were announced after the fact, as is usually done on unformatted radio. They're both good.
There was a band, mainly blues-oriented, called Steamhammer whose album I heard in 1970 from the collection of a biker who had all kinds of obscure albums. I could never find it anywhere after that, until the original Napster came along. I also found an album I had bought in the first head shop I ever visited: "Sounds of the Zodiac," which I was going to replace through an order from a record store until they found out it was OOP. Another album that was fairly obscure at the time was "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man." A couple of my roommates got it, along with maybe 50 other albums from two carnies in exchange for some weed. They were always on the road and never had a place to listen to them. It's still Seger's best, IMHO.
I like listening to loads of music while tripping but the one ive liked best was steve miller's fly like an eagle.....i always feel so relaxed wen this song is playing....especially the last keyboard solo...it sounds so psychedelic
I'm pretty sure it on the fly like an eagle album.. maybe the last track its called something like "the window" or "look through the window" i cant remember.. but I used to listen to that alot when I 1st started dropping.. good spring time with the girl memories
Good ones, although i have to admit I hate In gadda da vida. It gets on my nerves. Also for people who like 20 minute ballad epic tracks that are trippy as hell. Godspeed You Black Emperor!
I like some of IBs other songs a real lot.. the 1st side on the in a gadda da vida album is pretty good.. as well as their live album.. I'm also a big fan of the Iron Butterfly Theme off of Heavy but I think in a gadda da vida is a good song to play along with.. since the main little riff is really easy and plays through the majority of the track... throw on some distortion or some nice fuzz, sit back close your eyes and just play, gets pretty wild while tripping.. tho so does alot of songs when you play them with your eyes closed while on something... Like floyd's set the controls for the heart of the sun.. thats really really simple.. mostly all one string.. sounds great when you turn the tone down like all the way...
Here's another one, which I came up with on my own a couple of years later. Get some magnesium ribbon, if you can still find a hobby shop that carries it, and cut a thin triangular sliver, about ¼" or so in length, from the edge with a scissors. Insert it into the end of a cigarette as a load and watch for the bright white flash as a flame appears on the end after a few normal puffs!
Never really dug Tool, man. Now, Infected Mushroom is the SHIT. As is Astral Projection. If you have never heard Infected Mushroom, tell me and I can get you some.
heres a group I found on Myspace.com called The Beat Monks they also have free downloads to all their albums: http://www.thebeatmonks.net/
Anything by the 13th floor elevators. After Bathing at Baxters - Jefferson Airplane Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles Fragile - Yes Revolver - The Beatles Jimi Hendrix & the Experience - Electric Ladyland Pink Floyd - Live at Pompei Pink Floyd - Ummagumma and much much more this is just off the top of my dome.
fuckin amazing while tripping - the cd "the dub side of the moon" by the easy dub allstars. Its an incredible reggae remix of dark side of the moon, with electronica sounds and all sorts of sound effects. The songs seem to flow together. Its really good for tripping at night or in the dark. few hits of L, that CD on headfones and a dark room with christmas lights and you are setttt...
