Kirk Hammett uses a Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan signature strat and a few other strats in the recording studio. He mainly plays Gibsons on stage... but damn, he has a lot of equipment.
dude you aint a kidding. in a guitar world i saw what he packs on stage....good gosh thats a lot!!! but he has a guy who just sits under stage and does it all for him...like switch him from clean to distortion. He lost some points in my book for that...but he's still an awesome solo writer.
Yeah... I really don't like guitarists who go insane with effects... I mainly just use one pedal when I play... either chorus or a triangle flange and sometimes a phaser or a delay... but one at a time with sometimes a delay, so no more than two at a time... I have Kirk's gear list... it's insane... hahaha, but I've got to admit, for someone who goes gear-insane, he has good taste in the equipment that he uses... insane!!!! though one of my favorite guitar players. he's not the greatest but he know when to play notes and when not to.
oooh... I just remembered a friend of mine, Anton Tsygankov. I've talked to him a bit on a few forums and such... he's an awesome guitarist. He's just getting discovered.. he's russian... plays a Fender custom shop telecaster he designed after a les paul... he's awesome. He did a cover of Hey Joe a few weeks ago and has another song on there entitled "blues"... he's pretty damn good... some of his playing is kinda like satriani, vai, and eric johnson thrown together... http://www.vocals.ru/eng/mus.shtml he's very blues/jazz... except on steroids sounding with a hint of metal....
No problem, man. I added to my site, as well. http://www.soundclick.com/georgesnow Tommy Emmanuel has always been one of my top ten inspirations for acoustic... him and Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young). I'd say my biggest acoustic inspirations...
