It's pronounced Sheikh, like those Arab dudes.

    https://youtu.be/qUsw8OjxqoY

I didn't know, that my wife had to tell me, I thought it was like, chick.

So here's the deal, my wife and I got invited to an exclusive concert by The Drifters. For those of you who don't know who they are here's a sample:

    https://youtu.be/EPEqRMVnZNU
That's from 1964, one of the top 500 songs of all times and it was recorded in several versions as they got in trouble for the line about making love under the boardwalk.
Don't ask me how we got invited.

Now a little while ago we get this email telling us the dress will be "casual chic", whatever the F that is. Like I care. My usual concert attire is bluejeans and a T-shirt.
But my wife is all worked up about this so she emailed back asking for an explanation, and the chick told her something or other about scarfs.

But what it all boils down to is my wife sez I have to wear "casual" dress pants (with a belt) and a buttondown long sleeve shirt, which I happen to have a few of from when I used to work.

Now, here's the question: how should I roll up my sleeves?
This, apparently, is very important when you are trying to look "chic" and god knows I'll be having enough trouble with that.

I could use the basic roll, the casual forearm roll, or the master roll. Or maybe the Italian roll, Marine, AIFA, high roller, or band roll.
I'm just so torn! I mean I don't want to look like a dork even if only one of the Drifters is still alive.

    Any suggestions?
I told my wife I'd just wear my Popeye t shirt which is about two sizes two small but I like it cuz it makes my biceps look bigger, but I don't think she's gonna go for it.

no worries, it turns out that 46 drifters are still alive. compare that to only 18 dead drifters.

Just wear your t-shirt with a blazer.

    Also, don't wear socks.

i don't think tees are chick. but then what would i know. i'd wear my double knit bells and disco jacket, and a button down shirt with the nerd pockets, in some nice bright color.
(like pumpkin, pink or lime) (of course one of those tees with a tie printed on it might pass) velvet vest optional.

I have no idea what time....I just follow orders.
I do know there's a cocktail hour and diner, so I told my wife I'm getting drunk if the drinks are free and she can drive home.

I wouldn't get caught up in the language of ..."chic..." They probably mean just dress nicely.....

Dinner concerts are so much fun!....and The Drifters are great. ,,,one of my mom;s favorite bands...i grew up on all of those those songs....There Goes my baby and Save the Last Dance For me....ect....

    you will have fun!

Stan and I went to a supper club concert once to see Jerry Vale. Stan wore a black suit with a white shirt and a tie he removed after dinner. I wore a black dress and heals, and were were pretty chic....

    have fun!

I think distinguished gentlemen of a certain age can possibly pull them off

Guys in our generation? Nope, definitely a douchey look

well brainiacs are morally superior to macho muchacos.
just worry about guys like me who wear bright solid colors with nerd pockets filled with psychic notebooks and sonic screwdrivers. lol.

yah, just wear something clean, neat, and not rediculously retarded looking.
retro is cool. grunge is not. pretty sure that's what's being requested,
or at least that's how i would choose to interpret it.

i never thought about 'fedoras' being 'creepy',
i'd make a guess that would have to have something to do with an individual's personal experience.

i don't generally wear hats of any kind. i find them uncomfortable at all times.
i've started wearing straw hats in the summer time though,
because at my age heat stroke is a real potential health threat.

i still think baseball caps look ugly though, whichever way you wear them facing.
or any other athletic attire for that matter.

So I take it fedoras are out.

I don't normally wear a hat and when I do it's usually one of these:
Sometimes I try to get out of the house with one of these jobs:
...but my wife always threatens to divorce me if I do.
I think the bottom one is kinda chic myself, but what'll I know?
