We've Heard You've Been Involved In A Car Accident Which Wasn't Your Fault

I'm getting more and more of these cold calls. I think for the next one I'll say: "That's funny, because I heard you've been involved in a car accident which wasn't your fault."

not having a car, nor having had one since the mid 90s, well not having a phone either,
what the hell were they selling? car insurance, health insurance, traffic court lawyers, bibles?

last time i was in a fender bender was some time back in the 70s, as a passenger,
no other car involved, the driver just backed into a telephone pole that was in his blind spot.

so much lol, the crap people assume, especially if they're trying to sell you something.

But with a cold case call from a company you have no connection with or interest in you can just hang up without saying anything. Sends a clear enough message

 

My stock phrase is - which company are you calling from, how do you know that I have been involved in an acident and how is it posible since I don`t own a vehicle. thank you for calling, goodbye. I used to be quite rude but thought better of it and now give the above with no pauses and no chance for them to speak.

 

Wow, how often do you guys get called with this question?

 

Often enough for it to be more than a slight inconvenience

 

They supposedly try to get money from the perpetrator's insurance company for you, and take a cut out of it for themselves. I think you have to have suffered personal injury / loss of earnings etc. for them to get a claim going.

I got one of those a couple of months ago. I kept telling them I haven't had an accident they kept insisting in the end had to tell him to fuck off and I hung up
