In a couple days, college starts up. I wonder, though, if I should wait till at least the second day to start going barefoot, and get a feel for what the people are like (see if others are barefoot), or just go barefoot the first day. What do you think?

I Say Go Barefoot On The First Day That Way Everybody Knows Exactly Where You Are "Coming From"

And As I Have Said Before......If Somebody Can't Accept You For Who You Are......And What You

    Stand For......Then That's Their Problem.

Congrats On Starting College And I Hope You Achieve All Your Goals......[IMG]

    Cheers Glen.

i side with glen. do first day man. then whoever you meet on the first day will recognize that as a part of you rather then finding out about it onthe second day. it makes everything easier.

Thanks. I'm just not exactly sure, though. I feel like I should get a feel of the environment there first, that way, I know what to expect.

Over the summer, I built up my wardrobe, bought a variety of colors of button up shirts, dress pants, ties, dress shoes, hats, and coats. But I figure maybe I'll keep that for when it starts to cool down more. It's still between 70-90 most days for a while, and I'd sweat too much in my nice clothes. So for a while I'll keep it to a polo shirt, shorts, and bare feet.

I guess so, but all my pants are dressy. Not sure how that will look.

i wear shorts with bare feet every day. long pants with bare feet just creates a tripping hazard.

but you don't go barefoot at all at your current school?

I graduated. I wasn't enrolled in any school, but I'm now starting college.

So I now have a slightly different question. Should I dress up my first day to make a good impression, then go barefoot? Or should I just keep going barefoot until it gets too cold for it? See, I'm majoring in music education, and networking, especially with former professors, is important in landing a job. I want to be careful.

that comment was in reply to corrin, who said that she would go barefoot if she changed schools.

when i was in college, people used to joke about how you knew someone was a freshman if they were dressed up for class. i suspect that the professors are used to seeing any and all kinds of dressing down, especially in a more artsy major like music.

well, that settles it. If I feel like it that day, I'll go barefoot.

I have thought it over some, and have come up with a way to take it slowly. I'll start by taking barefoot walks in the nearby park whenever I have a while between classes, then when I start to get acquainted with people, then I can invite them to join me, and then gradually start attending classes barefoot.

Don't let it be a distraction to you, Barefootconservative. College is hard enough without too many distractions. :)

i'd say that the distractions are the whole point of college. that classroom shit is the easiest thing you'll ever have to do, but the life lessons most people experience during their time outside of class are priceless.
