BBQ Sauce In My Opinion Has Spoiled Every Pizza I Have Ever Tried......Even The "Meat Lovers" Pizza......And In That Case It Was Because They Assumed Every Meat Lover Would Devour Anything Wether It Be "Live Meat"...Or...."Dead Meat"...As Long As It Was Drenched With BBQ Sauce... Cheers Glen.
A pizza without cheese is like a cow missing it's udder. In other words, a pizza without the cheese is as useless as teats on a bull!

Now I remember the early '50s when pizza was just catching on in the U.S. My mother always made her own, always thin crust as that's what real pizza has...thin crust. The best was only made for Christmas Eve and that was "white pizza." White pizza is a thin crust covered with olive oil and anchovies and baked till crisp. That's it. The best. Tomato pizza always had anchovies on it. I never heard of a pizza without anchovies until the '60s. We make our own version of pizza by getting thin crust focaccia bread and baking it in the oven. At the same time we fry up peppers and onions in some olive oil, when done, we pull the bread out and cover it with olive oil and apply the peppers, onions, slices of tomatoes, and a little grated Parmesan. Then back in the oven for a bit. Oops forgot some garlic! Something like this:
