I want to hear what y'all sound like. I want to hear all those weird accents. This is me:

You can go to the following web page (there are probably others) and make a short recording of your voice. Once you save you will be given a link; just paste it here.

    No profanity! j/k.

Yet, none of the girls will post a clip of themselves.

It will just be a bunch of guy clips.

    :D

The sound of my recorded voice makes me cringe.

Me too. I've already stated that my voice sounds like a cognitively delayed male.

But, to be fair... you have never shown any sign of lacking self esteem. I have for pretty much everything. So, for me it's just another thing that is ugly about me. But, for you... I don't know, it's special? That sounds creepy.

Hm, well, I guess I just don't talk about my self esteem unless it is relevant to the conversation. I like how you talk about it so matter-of-factly.

Also, I feel like a lot of people recoil at the sound of their recorded voices. I don't know what it is.

Mmmmmmmm you have me waiting in excitement!

I just borrowed a laptop so I could use the vacaroo site and I made the recording, logged into this site, clicked on this thread and the computer wouldn't let me go any further, I couldn't even scroll, I could only read the last comment, I was able to click to reply but then when I went to paste the link, there was no paste option coming up. So damn it WTF!
That's why I use iPad, it's just way easier. Electronics make me want to scream and throw a big princess fit, possibly throwing shit through glass windows in frustration!

I was like that for awhile but now I feel it's more tolerable.

I think many people perceive their voice differently when speaking than when listening to it and since for most of us, speaking is probably our most utilized conscious mode to convey information, interact with each other and the world, it's odd that it comes across somewhat differently on recording.

Perhaps There is something slightly peculiar about voice being recorded to a static medium as well, in contrast to the the mind, which seems free flowing and dynamic.

Matter of factly. Lol! I pretty much do that with everything, at least online I do. In person, it's a little different.

It's because when people hear their own voices, they hear the voice resonating through their bony structures and sinuses. When they hear it off a recording it's got more treble and less bass - sounds a bit tinny in many cases - and that's what the world's been hearing from us when we thiught we had late night FM voices or Mae West voices (depending on gender).

You're not alone in that, dear heart, but DO persevere because your many fans are panting to hear your sweet voice and many hands will, quite possibly, go into action when that day comes.

Of course, I prefer a quieter, more diffident girl myself but I shall still listen with interest;)

You could do the recording and ask the user of the laptop to send it to your e-mail. And then when you get your hands on your ipad, get it from your e-mail, and copy/paste it in a comment as normal. And if they're asking why you're doing what you're doing, just tell them you wanted to hear how your voice sounded, and you wanted a record of it to remember.
