The two best Horror Comic creators I know of are Junji Ito and Emily Carroll.

Junji Ito is quite famous for his detailed illustrations and his unsettling psychological stories. As well as being a talented artist, he creates very original and creative story concepts; he is inspired to write about otherwise everyday objects or concepts that he expertly turns on their head, so you’ll never look at them the same way again.

Emily Carroll is a well known and award winning Canadian artist who creates truly creepy and haunting stories. Her artwork may seem colourful and friendly, especially compared to Ito, but it serves to lure you in and turn your expectations around. She’s become very famous for her eerie backgrounds too and created the cover art for Gone Home.
    Interested friends can watch it.

    I'd have to say:

Locke and Key by Joe Hill
    Providence by Alan Moore
    Harrow County by Cullen Bunn
    Severed by Scott Snyder
    Witches by Scott Synder

And pretty much everything by Mike Mignola

I would never prefer anything more than The Vault Of Horror and The Crypt Of Fear from EC.
