While all my friends were listening to the beetles, I went to the opera house. I have never looked back. I also enjoy orchestral music and listened to Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto when I was about 10. It is still one of my favorite works today.
Childhood....as in little kid? Songs my mother listened to on A.M. radio in the kitchen. I remember "Like a rhinestone cowboy"... "Have you seen the most beautiful girl in the world".
Daddy played Hank Williams, Sr. My 3 older brothers played Chubby Checker, The Beatles, and The Stones. Mom just listened to sappy Top 40 like "Watching Scotty Grow" by Bobby Goldsboro; and "Honey" also by him. My little brother and I wore out our Batman record.
This basically got me into heavy metal. I remember my dad heard it, and then showed me and said I'd like it. Lol. And I did.
That's awesome! I never realized I liked heavy metal until I heard Dio "Rainbow in the Dark" the very first time. I was doing homework one Sunday evening and listening to the radio. And when that song came one on I put my damn pencil down and just listened, completely blown away. I've never been the same since then.
I didn't know Ronnie James Dio played with Iron Maiden. I'm only aware of Black Sabbath, Rainbow, etc. I like me some Iron Maiden too!
It's def the same guy just not sure who he played with lol. I saw him solo with band mates, he was just called dio
