No they did not. The Hispanic peoples always had their own culture and dishes.

Spain basically colonized and oppressed and enslaved Mexico for centuries. Before Mexico finally gained it's Independence in the latter part of the 19th century.

Side note.....Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence day as many gringos think! LOL

There is little similarity between modern Mexican food and ancient Mayan dishes.

And what you get here in the Estados Unidos as Mexican food would not be very close to what you'd find in Spain.

BTW...I live in what used to be northern Mexico! LOL

    Hope dis helps!!

First evidence of bread was 2500 BC ancient egypt.

I seriously doubt it took another 4000 years for anyone to put meat in between two bits of bread.

Earl of Sandwich didnt invent nothing.

And whats the bet it wasnt him at that time, one of his servants did and he took the credit

    Dude, it's not.

Mexicans use bread too. They call it pan. Pronounced to rhyme with pawn.

    They call tortillas, well, tortillas.

The taste and texture and appearance of the two are totally different.

Saying burritos use bread is like saying that huge submarine sandwich you made was in a tortilla when in fact you used a deli bread.

You fucked up, admit it and get over it. I've forgotten more about Mexican food than you know, and have prolly eaten it more in one month than you have in your entire life. LOL
    I'm also proficient in Spanish.

    Que no, vato?

    Hasta luego.

    I know.

I hope Mr vanilla never has to dine here in Texas!

I could see him mistaking jalapenos for sweet pickles and having a very bad dinning experience!

Saying....they're both green, they're both veggies....it's the same shit!

    LOL

    Gracias.

    Expand my horizons?

    Listen up, pops.

I've been to four continents and twelve countries and about thirty states.

My dad was with the government. I lived in six different places before Texas.

    I've flown around the globe.

Over fifteen hundred flying hours as a military and private pilot.

    Swam in four oceans.

    How about your travels, smartass?

...which is why you think it was ok for lunch counters in the south to refuse to serve black patrons, because that's the free market system, right?

    Great retort!

I can see you're an educated and well travelled individual.

With no doubt vacation homes all over the globe.

    And a skilled conversationalist.

    And.....here's my eye roll.

I dont understand the parallel you're trying to draw.

Refusing service based on race, gender, sexuality, etc is discrimination

Refusing to eat at an establishment or making any kind of choice regarding where to spend your money is...a choice everyone makes, every single day

Are you suggesting people should be forced to spend their money at this restaurant, or what?

Yes. It's also the free market system

Yes. That's also the free market system

MeAgain seemed to be claiming that there should be no outrage about the outcome in the burrito case, because it was the product of the free market system. I was pointing out that he probably isn't as in favor of the free market system as he thinks he is.

For those of you who've ever been to Portland within the last 10 or so years, you'll know of a famous doughnut shop called Voodoo Doughnuts.

It's a doughnut shop that gained its fame on the Food Network, and is known for their putting unorthodox toppings on donuts like Capt'n Crunch, Fruit Loops, Bacon, and even Nyquil.

It is a celebrated entity of Portland and a hot tourist trap.

The only problem is, it is owned by white men who are appropriating Creole culture. So why don't these SJWs at the Portland Mercury berate these guys as white racists stealing from Haiti?

I suppose it's all about timing. Had the founders of Voodoo doughnuts opened their shop in 2017 rather than 2000. Their hopes and dreams would've been destroyed by social justice activists with gender studies degrees. Maybe this is what the culture of progressivism has become; searching for racism under every rock and behind every corner. Some users have said maybe these ladies should move their burrito cart elsewhere. Maybe they're right.

I'm gonna write to the Willamette Weekly and hopefully my editorial will get published so these hypocrites can see what cesspool their great city has become.

I still don't see many traditional Mexican Aztec and Maya themed anything. I see a lot of Mexican themed traditions that look a lot like Spanish traditions.

Even if you get your editorial published, I'm not sure it would do any good. Everyone seems to be entrenched in their ideological position and for the most part, just talking past each other
