The Fall were a proper down to Earth to ground, whilst James got greater success - both however produced a fresh sound that was timely and well appreciated in the locale :)

Both bands still going. James played a great set at Glasto last year, I watched it online. They really connect with the crowd.

The Fall have been making great music since the start, and they're still going but these days Mark E Smith is becoming a bit too much like a drunk old man who wandered on to the stage mumbling to himself and fell on to the drums. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed their set at Glasto in 2015.

I wonder how their drummer is doing? He got beaten up quite badly not so long ago in some random attack.

What's that the original version of their first (and best) album?

I used to own that on vinyl.

Aye all my vinyl has been lost or sold over the years. I used have a few original Smiths vinyls. I think the first album has a rare version that's worth a bob so hopefully it wasn't that one I lost.

I had the pleasure of listening to 'Badly drawn boy' in a small cafe/bar in Chorlton ("On the Corner") a couple (or come to think of it - maybe a few) years ago - where he performed a couple of acoustic numbers - can't beat live music = :)

The Hour of Bewilderbeast is a really nostalgic album for me, but not for Manchester it always makes me think of a pub I used to frequent in Reading, and this album was often on the CD player. It's a good album to drink beer to.

Can I ask why you started this thread? I mean, it happened, all those people were killed there, the killer came from there.. but how many of the dead came from there?

Maybe it's just how I'm feeling.. ignore me..

    .
I started the thread because as I live in (albeit on the Southern side of) the City, being in the City; both at the time and the days thereafter, interacting with/and seeing the Spirit and diversity of the people - different backgrounds and tastes - it got me to thinking that it was one way of reminding people that Manchester = "A City United" was to acknowledge the various musical acts that have/ appeal to many
Music crosses many boundaries - and I felt it appropriate - I posted it in the UK & Music Forum because it has UK and Musical reference

As for the Political facts - they are best answered - or - responded to in the News category
    - Hope that answers your question
