Morrow I don't know why you're getting personal If western society doesnt have this conversation now, then when? We need to at least attempt to hold our governments accountable for the seemingly endless wars they're waging in the middle east that makes the western world at least partly culpable for the rise in radical fundamentalism and terrorism. We can't cry at headlines like this but continue to skip over the tiny blurbs about how our troops "accidentally" bombed a school or hospital filled with children somewhere in the middle east. Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan...these were all moderate, even secular nations before the western world intervened. We cant continue to wage war and expect war not to find us on our own doorsteps. It doesnt work like that
The west going to war with ISIS legitimizes their cause. That's what some people fail to understand here in America. If you don't let any of them in then ISIS goes to them and says "see you only have us the rest of the world hates you". It's sad to me because I understand the plight of Europeans. You want to help but it's just fact some of them don't want help and they will do things like this. But then what about the peaceful ones who then have no where to go? It's hard to regulate it without taking away fundamental freedoms.
The little 8 year old girl who got killed, she looks like she could be muslim, or half muslim? Saffie, maybe a variation on Safina is a muslim name. Is that a good start Ged? EDIT obviously I know Islam isn't a race, but you know what I mean...
Saffie doesn't look Muslim to me. No I'm just feeling anti today. It's a joke. We're all adults here aren't we.
And your saying this to me because? I fight no wars, I wouldn't allow my son's to join the British army.. I've killed no one.. so what are you saying, I'm crying because of headlines on the news? Do me a favour.. I live 20 minutes away from that attack, my friend's daughter is still not home.. pardon me if I cry for those children.. So what do I do? Go knocking on number ten and say, at up may, what you gonna do about this? Do you think they listen to us? May will say good stuff and maybe get a few more votes from Manchester, do you think I don't know? I weep for my own.. those your talking about, there is nothing I can do, apart from make sure my son's are no part of it, that's it! Now leave me to cry my tears for my people...please.
I only said the first sentence to you, because you were being rude to another member for expressing his views. The rest of it wasnt really directed at you, just me expressing some general thoughts Edit: I dont want to start some big drama for calling you rude when you have a tragedy unfolding in your backyard, I do genuinely get that Its just not everyone looks at this the same way, and I do think it is important for the western world to examine why this keeps happening.
Sure. But British army lads go to fight to another country. They invade in a way. No one who goes to another country to fight is entirely blameless. So you are at war, whether you like it or not. You don't personally feel it, since it's being fought very very very far away. But if you are at war (and you are), why wouldn't your country be a battlefield as well? There is no reason why it shouldn't be. Why wouldn't they attack your territory? You can say you personally are innocent all you want (and most of them Muslims in the Middle East are innocent as well too, just like you), but you are at war. What did the Croatian guy who was beheaded do? Nothing. But he comes from a country that sends its troops to Afghanistan and other countries. It doesn't come without a price. They don't give a fuck that they are killing innocent people, like that kids at a concert. And let's face it, most of us don't give a fuck that western soldiers are killing innocent people there too. Didn't USA bomb a freakin hospital very recently? Middle East is so fucked up. The west should fuck off from there already. Or stop being so surprised when something like this happens. Let them sort their shit out. Do you think your British lads are heroes in the Middle East?
You can't send your British lads there, and then put up a fence all around your island. It doesn't work that way.
If I ever go travelling in India again I might consider taking a second fake passport stating I'm Icelandic nationality.
Didnt British soldiers spend some time in your country a while back Piaf ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3J7QgeZeVw
..after we'd bombed the shit out of everything. Be grateful for NATO intervention, you'll be alright as long as one of the bombs doesn't land on your house.
Thats what Soldiers do Fight in a Conflict ! not sneak into a concert full of kids with a bomb Anyone see the Difference Here ?? Do you think the Bombing was Justified ?
Police are saying the bomber was 22 yr old Salman Abadi, born in the UK of Libyan descent. He was known to the security services http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40020168 Pilots drop bombs that kill children indiscriminately. Same with drones. Neither the terrorist nor the governments on whose behalf the planes drop their bombs or ships launch their cruise missiles are justified IMO.
Your point? Do I owe them eternal gratitude or something? Or should I modify my opinion because of it?
I will say it again The bomber ( deliberately ) Chose to target a concert full of Kids Not Soldiers sailors or Pilots Was he Justified in doing so ?? Not Indiscriminately But Discriminate
