And when he drives through those neighbourhoods with all those empty houses...Seriously, I've travelled to many many places in Bosnia, with houses damaged from war, bombed down and whatnot....but this seems worse.

The sad thing is....imagine those streets and houses a few decades ago...I bet it was better....some of the houses are so pretty. Such a shame.


And imagine all those young men hanging out at those gas stations that late at night.

Oh yeah, it is just like a third world country in places like Detroit. It wasn't always like this, but once the manufacturing base that held the city together was lost (Detroit was once the car manufacturing capital of the world), it resulted in high levels of unemployment, rampant poverty and endless violence. People have nothing to do and nowhere to go, so they hang around at gas stations, deal drugs, and all sorts of gang related activity. It would definitely be a terrible place to have your car break down if you were passing through.

The politicians should take walks through the inner city neighborhoods, especially Presidential candidates or the President who whine about the conditions of the inner city, It would be a break from the rock star style victory rallies that they do in corporate venues in upscale neighborhoods.

 

i like watching fochnut....he tracks down people who dump garbage in his hood (briggtmore detroit) and returns their garbage to them with a fine....also he chases out the crackheads and prostitutes...some of them are pretty funny
