Hundreds of years of history, and a lot of it bloody. Invasion, conquest, oppression, dynastic wars, imperialism, struggle for freedom.

Are you seeing a parallel with some other place perhaps?

Meantime 'Honest George' Osborne has announced he's standing down as an MP to focus on his new job in the propaganda wing.

No doubt he'll be presiding over 'free and impartial reporting' at the Standard.

Wont make any odds. They'll get someone else in to stand for the SNP.

overspending on an election campaign is not quite the same thing is it ?

Ms McGarry also protested her innocence after police launched an inquiry into claims £30,000 went missing from the accounts of Women for Independence, a group she co-founded.
It emerged earlier this year she was facing a second inquiry into allegations more than £4,000 has disappeared from the accounts of the SNP’s Glasgow Regional Association.

Because Theresa May has expelled all the members of her party who broke the rules...

I've decided that I'm going to vote SNP, not so much a vote for the SNP but a vote agaisnt the tories. The last GE result in my consituency was a close shave between the SNP and the tories. If it was close between them and Labour I'd vote Labour, if it was the LDs I'd vote tactically for them. I haven't voted in a GE since 1997.

Tactical voting or even voting is not something I'd encourage, but in this instance the main priority is getting the tories out.

I think people are over estimating the popularity of May. She'll pull in the female vote, but she'll lose votes because people will still remember Thatcher and compare her to her. Voters will come out in support of Labour and/or Corbyn and in solidarity against the tories, and I think We could be looking at Labour or a Labour coalition government with the Greens or the LDs.

I think the Greens, LDs and the SNP should form an alliance before the election and pledge to introduce proportional representation in their manifesto.

    Fuck the tories.

    May, maybe, maybe not.

    She's a self-serving and unprincipled drone.

Won't even deign to take part in TV debates. Can't see how that squares with the idea of democracy. What is it she's scared of?

The problem is she has no credible opposition so within reason can do what she wants and will still coast back into No 10.

    1) unscripted situations.

    2) That when presented properly and not filtered/skewed/ignored by Murdoch and Dacre, Corbyn's policies are significantly more popular with ordinary people than hers.

    3) That the chosen one will find his grandfather's sword and vow to rid the land of evil.
