In short! Ninety years ago Ireland was split in two after people living there went to war against their British rulers. The south became a separate state, now called the Republic of Ireland. But the break-up led to decades of unrest and violence in Northern Ireland, which remained part of the UK.

 

My ancestors were German, so say what you will about that.

I never knew any Brits growing up. My uncle married one, but I only recently put it together (duh! I forgot her mother had an accent when we met at the wedding...but never discussed culture much. Hardly see them much!)

Anyhoo, yeah saw a headline this morning (my morning) about the election in June...but I'm getting my news from Hip. Haha Yes,that's as much as I care! Lol j/k it's how much I understand, and to be frank, I'm pretty lost...but I figure it's good to try. Nah, my understanding is that a vote might be good, but will it be a fair election. Idk. I don't contribute or plan to contribute much with politics...of any sort. I of course do my civic duties though and care and listen.


Edit: oh and Irish too. German and Irish and ever so slight of French. But that being said, we are pretty much Americans and don't know too too much of our histories...but the world is getting smaller and it's just good to know some stuff I'd say. Anyway, hey guys!
