Is it true, that in the UK, spring begins February 2nd (or thereabouts--I heard one place, it's actually the second week of February)? That would be strange for people in the USA, because in the US February is definitely the dead of winter. In fact, next to January, February is the second coldest month of the year. Also, I heard more than one place, November 1st is beginning of the old Celtic winter (cf. Hallowe'en). I know where I live, Michigan, a few snowflakes may fall even October. But winter definitely does not begin until December, if even then anymore. Please enlighten us to the strange weather patterns of your beautiful country. :crowngrin:
Yesterday started UK spring time! But it's like summer at the moment! But it's always a changeable thing the weather in the UK! But first day of spring was yesterday, February is definitely not spring! Never really known it to be anything but cold in February! I like how they say "making it easier" on the page that morrow linked. We are talking about complex calculations and they need to start the seasons at the beginning of the month to make it easier.
i consider spring to be the time that it's cool and obnoxiously damp outside at all times. so by that definition, my impression of the UK is that it's springtime year round.
We have quite good Summers here in the UK despite popular opinion. Of course we do get some rain and overcast weather, but also many splendid hot days too.
True! But here in the NW, we get far more rain! The SE gets far less! But! I would rather be in the wet!
