I don't make a habit of this ALL the time, but if I ever have someone i need to text, or something to read and i'm driving, I never pick up my phone while in motion.. but as soon as I come to a red light I pick it up and read that text from my gf or sister or type a few words of a reply, and way sooner than ever before the ligtht turns green again!

Put down the phone, and continue again at next red light. Red lights never been quicker!

    .

It's not all in my head....

So you're the guy in front of me screwing around when the light turns green.

Can't it wait till you get home?

I still make it a habit to look up every 10 or so seconds, like I would do in the rear view mirror while driving. So i'm aware well before it changes.
It works 99% of the time!

I'm speaking for myself, though. Point taken!

There is an app you can get apparently, reads your text for you..

Can you imagine? With text talk, wonder what it would make of wtf..Or lmfao. Got to be funny that!

Don't use your phone unless you have blue tooth!

LOL, yes it is all in your head. Actually time it and you will see.
years ago you could force a signal to change by flashing your highbeams on and off a few times and it would trigger the light to turn green.
It's because emergency vehicles have/had a forward facing strobe light that signals the light to change. Not sure if they still use the same system.

    some towns still use that

most that use it also have bylaws and fines for using a trigger device on a non-emergency vehicle

This is similar to making buses/trains show up faster. Light a cigarette. By the time you're 3 puffs in, your transportation will show up. Almost never fails.

Yes they do, but it's more advanced now. Some locations in the US have a system called OptiCon - the strobe light on the front of the vehicle flashes a coded sequence that identifies the vehicle, and the code sequence must be the proper flash rate and sequence for it to operate.

Other systems are not line-of-sight light-based, but use GPS in the vehicle to transmit location, speed and direction of travel to the traffic light control system in its vicinity, which then activates the red light control.
