How many more turns of the spiral must we travel before the scales fall away and we see past the meat sacks we travel in and recognize we are all born of the same substance and will eventually coalesce back into the formlessness of infinite potential?

You mean as individuals or as a species?

the infinite number of turns it takes to gain the cosmic status of planetary Light and Life... We have no place to go back to, this planet is our first sojourn of life, we won't coalesce backwards, but eventually evolve into potentially spiritually divine perfection
That, even unknowingly, is the goal of every meatsack

Well, NG, I would say that the fact that you are asking this question proves that you are several ages closer than most people. :)

You can break the wheel of karma and be truly liberated by attaining to the state of Enlightenment -which is attainable in this lifetime - check out www.lightandsoundmeditation.com, they deliver the goods and do not charge.

Well if you have been there and done you have the answers to life - congratulations! Please could you share how you attained Enlightenment so others can benefit.
Finally peoples understanding of Enlightenment varies considerably - as you consider your Enlightened what do you mean by it?

Did I proclaim myself to be "enlightened"?
I did lose a bit of weight over the last few years, so in that sense I'm lighter.

"Enlightenment" or whatever you choose to call "it" comes in many flavors and colors complete with nifty little slogans, exercises, rituals and other hooey.

the site you linked to sounds very much like the Law of One or Teachings of Ra, now is that because they ripped off the Law of One material, is it because it is kinda the perennial "story" replete with a partial "evolution" of the human race that numerous religions espouse or is it because that "scenario" is true and they all contain elements of that truth, yet none are the complete picture?

don't fall into the trap of becoming enamored with one school of thought, it more often than not leads to disappointment.

It is thought itself that prevents the perception of truth or 'what is' as it is. We are all coloring the truth or existence with the conditioned screens and projections of our private mental worlds and when this is understood , we might be able to see things as it is, or ourselves as we originally are in the fundamental state.

But for that to happen, thought should understand its limitation in understanding truth as it is due to the finite nature of thought and the conditioned intellect. A finite instrument cannot perceive the infinite or the whole.

Obviously though mind can reflect truth to some extent. If not, anything we might say has no value at all, as it's just more mental formulation.

I agree with Noxious that it's not good to look at only one system or formula. I don't think there's much hope of transcending the mind unless the mind is developed as far as possible, Looking into different philosophies and paths has an effect of widening the mind. Makes people less dogmatic and more open.

Many people are conditioned by consumerism, where everything comes as a neat little package, and they want the same thing when it comes to spirituality. A 'brand'. But things don't work that way in my experience. Hence the narrowness of many religious followers, or advocates of the latest 'new-age' book they happen to have read. The bitter disputes about which partial mental 'truth' is true. In the worst case scenario, religious wars.

You're right that we need to transcend mind. But still, we come back down to ordinary awareness, where mind is the principle means of getting knowledge, albeit partial and limited. The more developed and the wider our mental being, the more we will be able to bring back with us, the better the mind will be able to reflect truth. The more we will be able to transform life here including mind itself.

    we are the future's past.
a lot of people think people in the past weren't very bright.
if there will be anyone to look back at us
we're doing a pretty good job of proving it.

love makes people want to not screw things up for each other
only logic and consideration enable us to avoid doing so

depending on what people want to return to
cultures before aggressiveness was romanticized might be a good thing
real localism, where each place is entirely the consensus of those who live there
but with nothing to stop anyone from voting with their feet for anyplace else,
and that would mean no such concept as borders, let alone closing them,
possibly before money, or a world run by and for it.
none of these are beyond the range of the possible
none of them require nor bennifit from hatred, billigerance,
ANY kind of prejudice, any of those things we so often hear
a desire for simpler times being made an excuse for.

it is up to us to not distroy this world,
if we want there to be a future to look back on us

this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with technology either,
just that we don't need wasteful and careless ones like oil and coal,

or the corners that are motivated to be cut by a short sighted
    and illusory person 'gain' incentive

yes we've invented dumb things as well as smart ones
it is our cultural values that ultimately choose between them
even between which are motivated to evolve sooner or later then others.

only a culture that respects the dependence of our very existence
on the well being of the natural environment,
has any chance of insuring humanity's future.

no belief nor lack of it, can or alone will.

    eco-pocalypse awaits,
and while we may not at this late date be able to avoid it entirely,
what will remain when it has passed,
is entirely up to our priorities now.
