Despite the fact that we have clocks, some claim time doesn't exist and, likewise, despite the fact that you can be thrown into a prison cell for the rest of your life some claim freedom is an illusion. Which, of course, merely begs the question as to why people adopt such views when they are obviously merely self-defeating and of no practical purpose.

one may argue that the units measured by our clocks are arbitrary and imaginary, but to deny entropy's arrow, takes a very great deal of imagining indeed.  whatever units we divide a planet's rotational day night cycle into, the day and the year are both real objective things outside of ourselves that in no way depend upon our observation of them.  the prison, yes.  freedom is what exists, when we as humans, do not rob each other of it.  there are many ways in which we do so.  sometimes the only way to prevent one person from robbing everyone else of theirs, is to take away some of their own.  but we do need, if freedom is a thing we want, to keep in mind this and only this, is the only justifiable reason for doing so.  and that anger or vengeance is not.

Arguing that time is an illusion is pointless and counterproductive if you can neither prove it is an illusion nor have any actual use for believing it is an illusion! You may as well debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin for all the fucking good it will do you and the same goes for arguing that freedom is an illusion. You might as well go ahead and shoot yourself in the foot if there is no advantage in adopting such a belief and you are merely splitting semantic hairs without either evidence to support your belief nor a practical reason to adopt it.

The same goes for making up your own definitions for words like "freedom" when any common dictionary merely lists the most popular definitions of words and words only have demonstrable meaning in specific contexts. It is the Three Stooges arguing over the definition of stupid and who is the best example without ever realizing everyone else is laughing at them.

there is no disagreement between both our statements.
