Hubby planted 16 Broccoli seeds in little cups, inside a plastic container. We just put them in my closet so that the cats won't upset them while they are germinating.

They will be planted in the staw bales when it's time.

I'll get a pick of them as soon as they do something interesting.

Only 5 of the 16 broccoli were healthy. The others were too leggy. Hubby said they came up quicker than he though, in the closet, and he didn't get them out in time.

    He will restart some more.

We got 4 straw bales yesterday and started them cooking with the ammonium sulfate. They are placed narrow side up.

Sounds exciting. I'm interested in growing fresh veges but I don't trust my dog.

I recently saw an idea where you can have like a pull along trolley, and the garden sits in the trolley. I think I like this idea as I could move it around from harms way during weather and to keep away from the dog.

You could adjust the amount of sunlight it gets, as well.

The tag on the post says Hay Bale. That's a mistake. You actually need Wheat Straw Bales.

Hubby got ready some buckets for the sweet peas. He drilled holes around the bottom, filled with twigs, and dead fall from pompas grass; that way he only needs about 4 inches of soil on top. In the winter, it will compost, with some worms, in it for next year.
