Hmmm....I'm not sure if what you're referring to here is capitalist (or 'crapitolist, as you say) economy or not; not enough info.

Name a planned economy socialist paradise.  And why do people go to extraordinary lengths to reach such places as Germany or The United States, arguably capitalist countries?  No people have ever flocked to, say, North Korea, Cuba or Zimbabwe.  The USSR, when it existed, had the largest planned economy in the world; people to defected anyway.

I"m the first to admit that no economic system is going to be perfect; they involve imperfect people.  But socialism?  We can do much better than that.

name ANY ideological "paradise".  period.

yes, we can do much better then anything we've ever yet invented.

as soon as we stop using labels as excuses to refuse to look beyond the assumed superiority of the familiar.

We are not even close to any paradise.  I do not think we will ever reach it.  I have always felt that man is, by nature, very selfish to the extreme.  How else can you explain that 8 of the richest people are more wealthy than the bottom half of the earth?  And I bet it is even worse than that, but that is what an article recently stated.

Any way, once a person reaches a certain high point of power and wealth, which is nearly impossible because it is always the same families, selfishness and sociopathic behaviors are a must.  Those who want to ascend to that level, again must possess those two traits I mentioned.

"man's nature" is the usual bullshit excuse, and other then gullibility, bullshit it is.

that is, on the negative side.  on the positive side, creative imagination is the only thing that makes us anything any other species on our planet isn't.

a bit off the subject you introduced though.

cf's own words, venezu had been a paradise before hugo,

so my question would have to be when and for whom?

the oil 'give'away damd sure didn't start with him.

whether he is/was good bad or indifferent,

your premis does nothing to support your conclusion.

The mainstream TV news in the US is always trying to sell us socialism so they never report anything on Venezuela.

www.google.com/search?q=Venezuela   I clicked on news, terrible, I hope they can get that all that fixed.

You need arch support ! Why to make my arches weak so that way I really do ?

Will wearing a neck brace all day make my neck stronger too ?

Maybe keeping my arm in a sling will strengthen my biceps.

I am not an expert, but it is not Venezuela only who experiences humanitarian crisis but many many other countries which we do not see much in the news reports, they're simply ignored. Problems of such countries are often neglected, unfortunately. We still face so many issues ( here are the most important of them http://planetaryproj...roject/forward/ ) like ecology, migrants, starvation, lack of water, wars and terrorism.

Do you remember when CNN first came out and reported on worldwide news in depth  ?

Your post reminded me of when I found that Algezera news on YouTube and watched it for a wile and remembered when CNN reported like that on different stuff in all corners of the world and asked what happened ?   CNN was like that once now its just harp on one subject all day.

I don't cuss in these forums much but CNN is a bunch of major assholes, not cause Trump told me to think that but cause they simply are, not likely but I hope they go bankrupt and go away.

Venezuela has a bread shortage. The government has decided bakers are the Problem

March 17, 2017 Facing a bread shortage that is spawning massive lines and souring the national mood, the Venezuelan government is responding this week by detaining bakers and seizing establishments.

In a press release, the National Superintendent for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights said it had charged four people and temporarily seized two bakeries as the socialist administration accused bakers of being part of a broad “economic war” aimed at destabilizing the country.

Cool website, but I think humanity is going to take longer then any of us are going to live to "Grow up" and stop the dumbshit, at least 100 years.

Im not sure. You can't judge socialism as a whole by only looking at the bad examples. People don't come to America or Germany because these countries are paradises: they strive to go there because it is so shitty where they come from. And no that's not solely due to socialism either :P

Cool website, but I think humanity is going to take longer then any of us are going to live to "Grow up" and stop the dumbshit, at least 100 years.

unless the result of our dumbshitedness forces us to.

that result is what i'm calling eco-pocalypse, and that, in some ways, has already begun.

(how deep, how soon, i don't claim to know, but anyone assuming it can't or won't happen, is totally whistling in the dark,

and there's no religion, nor ideology that will magically make it go away.  only there are choices we CAN make,

that can improve the odds or make them worse.  familiar beliefs and ideologies do not motivate better choices.

nor does hating the logic of looking beyond them.)

it is clear this thread was created to harp on 'socialism', on the basis of a premis that has no substance.

This is an ongoing thing that always happens when a country turns to extreme socialism: It turns into an authoritarian hell hole with shortages and oppression around every corner. The hardcore leftists and communists praised the Soviet Union and their revolution, the North Koreans, the Cubans, the Vietkong, and the Venezuelans. They praise these leftist governments as power for the people. Then once each one of these governments suffers their inevitable fate, they always turn around and say "that wasn't REAL communism" that was practiced there.
