And check out the KKK too, see what the real world is like from the God-fearing Christian perspective.

...Oh, wait, I'm sorry. Do comments like that offend the Christians? Hmmmm, what do you know----just like my Muslim friends are offended when their beliefs are linked to Isis!

Because Islamophobia is a thing. Hatred and discrimination against Muslims is a thing. In fact, it has a very very long history---going back to the crusades and beyond.

As I more or less stated before, what makes Christianity so great? Why should it be the religion of privilege?

Christianity shouldn't be a religion of privilege. But wearing a scarf dosnt change that.

As for the KKK they use their hate by race they just happen to be Christian.
Whereas isis uses religion as their hate...they don't care about race.

What about the fucking crusades? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/42/b9/1e/42b91e3e8b9690e67488ca7f1047355e.jpg

I'm not a Christian, but they have for the most part moved on from the dark ages unlike Islam. Liberals, being rightous advocates of lgbt rights and women's rights, have less in common with Islam than they do with the everyday republicans they hate so much.

I don't know whether or not I'm supposed to take this thread seriously, but I think wearing a keffiyeh to protest Trump would be a bad idea, because his supporters and probably a lot of other folks wouldn't get it and would say: See, Trumps' critics are just a bunch of Muslim lovers.

I think I would feel more comfortable wearing a sombrero. Trump doesn't care for Mexican immigrants either, plus I work with Mexicans; they would think seeing me in a sombrero was hilarious. :D

I think I'd look ridiculous in either a keffiyeh or a sombrero, and I think if I wore one, the folks around me would dismiss me as a nutjob and not take my cause seriously. But of course I live in a very conservative part of the country.

What would the point be? Are you trying to say that Obama was a Muslim? I don't remember a discussion about a National Registry for Christians, or talk of halting immigration from Christian countries.

LMAO---not racist at all except by definition. I love it!!! You know, I'm not caucasian at all except by definition. Maybe I should use that argument to my wife---"I don't drink Coke and Pepsi at all, except by definition, so stop bugging me already!!!" I wonder if this could be a tax loop hole? I'll just tell the IRS that I don't make money at all except by definition.

I'm sorry penguinsfan13, I couldn't help it---seriously I'll have to remember to use that one, though I am too authentic---it would have to only be in jest.

But I understand your train of thought------and so don't take it personally. It's a funny statement and I hope you see my point, I am not really making fun of you, because it touches a common concept around racism. Today we all know that racism is inherently wrong, therefore most of us have repressed the idea of racism into our own subconscious, created the ego-ideal of being non-racist, and then operate under the conscious belief that we are not racist. This enables us to do racist things, and say racist things, and not be racist. I am not talking about being politically correct here---that, in my opinion, is inherently racist as well----shadow projection by those who see the problem outside of themselves.

The problem is if most Americans are not racist, then why are there so many racist things happening all over the country. White America can't see it---especially conservative white America. But it doesn't matter if they declare that racism doesn't exist, if people are offended and experience discrimination, then there is racism. And racism is not something that only white people do, it is found among every race.

Likewise, to say that Trump is not racist except by definition is the perfect example of this. He openly and freely offends people of many races, and he does not see the problem with what he says. He wants to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it (even if that is only campaign talk) and he wants to reinstate some very abusive immigration strategies of the past that were, in a word, racist. He wants to reinstate the very racially motivated stop and frisk policies---why? Because of black on black crime (a racist concept). His staff talk about a National Registry of Muslims, based on what we did with the Japanese in World War II, which was a racist act at a time when we didn't know how racist we were (and yet there were many Japanese soldiers who served for America very bravely and fought hard during that same war). When he gains support from racist groups like the KKK, and then is criticized for it, he takes his time in dissociating himself from them, and then denies that he knows who these supporters are and what they do---even though he has dealt with them before, and knows very well who they are (the message of his delay is clear---he is happy for their support but can't openly acknowledge it).

He and his dad have a history of discrimination. And the way he refers to Blacks and other minorities, and how he handles them at his rallies is very clearly discriminatory. His language is typical of how racists who try not to be racist pander to minorities.

Just consider the culture he comes from----think of his age----then consider that he is Ivy League New York upper class-----I don't know about the younger people today-------but if you have never dealt with his exact demographic, let me tell you, they are very racist. I had the most dealings with them when I worked for a Jewish firm (to me it wasn't a Jewish firm or a Jewish House----but that's what they were in New York----Shearson, Lehman Brothers, Solomon Brothers, etc. Barings, for example, was not). The highest level black person at that Jewish firm was an IT guy who had a critical job---but he handled the computers. There were no minorities in the analyst positions in New York, or any other high level Investment Banking position, and certainly not at any executive level. And that was the level that dealt with New York's upper class, and the companies that they ran.

I could go on----but if you can't see it, then I guess I'm wasting my time----he is racist by definition, by action, by intent, in short----because he is racist. He tries not to show it, but in so doing he openly offends all kind of people. Just look at how he talked about the Middle Eastern parents and citizens that lost their son in battle...

Wow---it seems so easy. I guess he must be a good businessman. I mean, if he was bad, he wouldn't have a university to teach people how to be like him right? If he was bad no one would go to it because it would be a scam, and if they were so stupid then they would have to join a class action lawsuit to get their money back.

If he was bad, then surely people would not be impressed by his money, and his TV show, and everyone would hear how bad he is, and there would be lots of lawsuits (including criminal law suits) out against him, and there would be all kinds of red flags, and then people would not be so stupid as to vote him into being president, right? So he must be good!

...oh wait---there are lots of red flags. He settled a lawsuit alleging fraud over his Trump University and people wanting their money back. There are very many lawsuits, including criminal, that he is currently fighting. And very many people are speaking out and saying that he is a bad businessman and not to do business with him, or for that matter, let him be president. SO yeah----that's what we've been wondering----why are all these people so stupid???????

I regularly wear these multi-tube head/neck scarfs when I go out walking as they are light and help to stave off the cold wind but you don't end up sweating like a beast too much if you are exercising like a bonnet would. I sometimes wear one round my neck and one on my head, for practical reasons. The thing is thought the neck-head combo does end up looking a bit like a hijab, and I often get odd looks from Muslim women. OTOH it also looks a bit like a viking.

Michael Moore to host star-studded protest outside Trump's NYC hotel

Filmmaker Michael Moore announced Saturday evening that he would be holding a "massive rally" Thursday outside Trump's New York City International Hotel with a pair of actors.

"Mark Ruffalo, Alec Baldwin & myself will be holding a massive rally in NYC in front of Trump International Hotel this Thursday, 6pm! Come!" Moore tweeted.

But that is not the reason for wearing a keffiyeh on 1/20. It is a protest against Donald Trump and his Islamophobic policies.

My real point is that Isis does not represent Islam. It is a terrorist organization. For that matter, there are right wing Christian groups that use their religion as their hate---even if they don't practice violence.

More important is that Trump's proposed immigration policies are about race just as much as they are about religion. For example, he talked about halting immigration from non Arab countries that have Muslim populations----such as the Philippines, which angered many Filipinos. The problem is that the Philippines is over 90% catholic, and the Muslim population makes up a very small percentage of the population. On the other hand, European nations that also have Muslim populations were not included in his list, only non-European nations. This is a policy of race as much as it is religion.

You have to consider that More crusaders died on ships then ever made it to the holy lands. Then they were hindered by the deserts and the conditions, and their ability to deal with them with the available technology at the time. Just think how limited the Muslims would have been if their attacks were back then at the same time.

But to give in to your argument and say ok, we stand up only for women and the lgbt (and after all, the Muslims hate them, right?) would be prejudicial and xenophobic. Truth be told, most of my Muslim friends have no problem with lgbt, and are not so misogynistic.

And this is where the problem falls back to race and culture (racism and xenophobia). The Middle East is predominantly a planter culture----as Alvin Toffler in his book, The Third Wave, would explain----they are still living in the 1st Wave. We are living in the 2nd Wave and transitioning into the 3rd Wave. Each wave is threatened by the other and there is a lot of resistance. Middle Eastern nations see the West as a threat of decadence and immorality. It is based on religious ethics, but in truth it is cultural differences. I assert this because, Christianity and Judaism share the same religious ethics, and as you said, culturally we moved on. But right wing Christians can be about as misgynistic and anti-lgbt as any Muslim.

Anyway in Europe it has been demonstrated that there is a direct corollation between discrimination against Arab communities and terrorist attacks. Then there is the issue that the King of Jordan continuously brings to us----solve the Palestinian issue in Israel and it will defuse most of the Middle eastern problem. The King of Jordan is a good friend to us-----and I would suspect that he has a pretty good handle on Middle Eastern politics----an expert if you will...

This is exactly what happens. I had a client (he is now my brother's client) in the stock market who went through the same thing. As he took him to court he was harassed non stop by Trump's lawyers, trying to get him to drop the lawsuit and so forth. They also continuously postponed the hearings and would show up unprepared and demand another postponement. He's wealthy so he was able to fight for his money---and eventually he won. Trump was forced to pay for his company's work and his legal fees---though I don't think Trump payed all 100% of what the original bill was. The funny thing was that he then got a letter from Trump's attorneys saying that he was barred from ever again doing business with Donald Trump or any of his associated companies again. He thought, 'Well that's good!' But then about 6 months later, he was approached by a Trump company to do another job. He agreed and then did not do anything more until a short time before the job had to be done---close enough that they would not be able to find another firm. Then he showed up with a contract demanding that he be paid in full up front. The Trump company was upset but they had no choice and paid. After that job he informed the Trump attorneys that they were barred from ever working with him again.

My brother recently asked him why he ever did business with him. He said that you would have thought that being so rich, and with his TV show, that he would be a man of his word.

This is the problem with Trump-----he puts on a big show---a spectacle----and everyone is impressed. But that is all it is---a big show. Did you see the press conference the other day and all the files of paper that he said he signed to put the business in his son's names? But non of the folders had titles or names or anything-----they were brand new folders fresh out of the package. And all of the thicker stacks were clearly blank paper----fresh from the package---that was pretty obvious by the way they were stacked together. Seriously---he obviously has file cabinets somewhere filled with folders of contracts that he could have brought to make his spectacle a little more believable!

In other words---he doesn't even put up a good show, which demonstrates how much he respects the American people------he doesn't care enough to even make it look good, because he takes us for a bunch of dumb suckers. But what is really sad is that apparently half the country is suckered in to his spectacle.

Maybe more Americans should work in the stock market so they have a better idea of these spectacles that are meant to impress, but are nothing more than bullshit.

BTW----in the case of the company I worked for----it was a case of actual Bank Fraud that would put any one of us in jail. Trump took out a large mortgage for a building from a group of Investment banks and banks. He did not disclose that the land itself was on a separate title. Then he stopped paying and the banks foreclosed. He then said that they can foreclose but he will put a fence around the property and have anyone arrested for trespassing because the land is separate. The banks could have pressed charges but some of the smaller banks would have risked failing because of the amounts they loaned---so they renegotiated and everyone took a haircut. Trump even bragged about this as his greatness as a businessman in a biography that came out in the late 1980's. But, it was bank fraud, and nothing more.

You mentioned his bankruptcies----but that doesn't even include his foreclosed properties and all the businesses that failed under the Trump label but that he did not own-----businesses that failed because he didn't keep his end of the bargain. There are casinos and hotels and other properties around the world like that. There are plenty of people like myself to tell others what a bad businessman he is-----so why are there so many that are too stupid to realize that------they get suckered in to his spectacle and show.

It's not about how great islam is, it is just another religion like many others. We do not need to coddle muslims as you like to portray it, but also don't act like a muslim is more prone to killing your fellow man as your average christian, atheist or whatever kind of fellow american. And we can not exclude all muslim immigrants simply because they are muslim and at the same time not rape our own constitution. There are other more sensible ways to keep unwanted illegal immigrants and/or extremists out, we (the west, both the USA and Europe) do not need to use a ridicilous rule for that which would exclude a whole group of people (of which the majority is as normal as you and me) solely because of their religious affiliation. Not for any real sensible reason, just that.

I would say quite the contrary if you're talking about 6-eyed. If he would overthink it he would come up with some sensible criticism. Instead he just uses the same old clichés like why coddle islam or muslims, the crusades bla bla, and don't look at the person but at the details of their religion (no matter if the person adheres to them or not, because... their muslim and all muslims are crazy believers!)
