I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it but supposedly the contest has a quota of inclusiveness, she's an immigrant to the country, the competition committee won't respond to their decision. There appears to be many reasons to lean towards supposing this pageant is an instance of PC run amok, reasons much more drastic than the cliché responses each lady gives to make the content of the competition look like it displays some substance. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... I assume the rest of the ladies prepare, train, and work for the opportunity to be in the competition as well, most of them probably grow up in Finland, dreaming of and being encouraged to participate in the Miss Helsinki pageant, so I can't help but feel for them and I wonder if it'll have any impact on younger girls aspiring to be in the competition.
That would be the best thing possible coming out of it. That they don't see the point at all to be in such a crappy thing. Join a worthy competition for pete's sake.
Dunno, but apparently - no. Miss Helsinki 2017 is an immigrant, came to Finland when she was a child. Some other girl won the popular vote, but in the end it's up to jury. The jury justified their decision and choosing her as a winner by saying that she had the most beautiful body (I very much disagree, but whatevs). Somebody posted the 2013 Miss, well she was actually in jury this year: Oh and somebody (Meliai, I think) asked about the talent part of the show. Still no 2017 videos on youtube, only 2016.
Just think about a white chick winning a beauty competition in an African or Asian country. Don't for a second try to convince me everyone wouldn't be all over it, every activist, every "fighter", all them women and/or rights groups. But this is different...we are white and prefering beauty from our native lands and promoting our cultural beauty is not very desirable. Bend over, Europe. And yup, these competitions are silly and all that bla bla bla.
I think it would depend on the details, like which country for example. Is it that crazy that a blonde would win in Lebanon? Or a white woman in South Africa? I'm not sure how crazy it is actually... You are of course. And superficial, and PC form the start (but the PC part only becomes an issue for you after a result like this though). Yes, they're quite silly aren't they
Completely agree with you Piaf, I'm all for acceptance but this type of terrible "sorry for everything bad ever" mentality that lefty whites have now is just unbearably stupid. I'd even say it's insulting to those they want to promote.
It is indeed preposterous and downright absurd that a white woman would win a beauty contest in an african country and vice versa
My favorite dog never wins Westminister, either...Everything is politics behind the scenes...and I see no point in beauty contests....dog contest, ect.....so i don't watch them anymore or care really.....Different judges might give you different results, ect.
