    What's the secret.

I've decided to start making my own popcorn, because I live miles from anywhere and if I get the munchees then popcorn is a good way to treat the condition.

Anyway, big pan, corns and oil, heat... couldn't seem to get loads of the corns to pop and ended up burning the ones that did a bit.

Did I not use enough or oil not enough heat, too much heat?

What can I do to ensure that I don't fuck it up the next time?

We got pots and fire and Karl found a warehouse full of corn, thought maybe we could use some ammo for what pea shooters we have left is all, maybe take somebody eye out with it.

Don't have a pressure cooker. Do I need one? Just my big white soup pot, which I'd like to not end up burning the arse out of preferably.

    Butter is better than oil?

What about butter AND olive oil?

    I use butter and oil..

Thick bottom pan, put the corn in when it's all cold, heat gently, but you must keep shaking the pan,
When it gets to big gaps in the popping it's done..
You mustn't leave it on the hob..

    Or, microwave, not that's fun!

i dont think one is better than the other but if you dont have a lid that may be your problem.

i have no info to be sure on this but one thing i can say

i have never seen popcorn done without a lid.

I have a lid it's just not a pressure lid.

So butter and oil and heat gently...

Said medium heat on the packet.

I'll try again with those things in mind, cheers.

i take it out of the plastic bag, put the paper bag into the microwave, and set it to 2:20. there is a popcorn button, but it's either way too short or way too long, i forget which. the popcorn button has basically become obsolete since all the microwave popcorn companies shrunk their bag sizes and the microwave manufacturers never bothered to change the popcorn settings accordingly.

it actually says on the bag...wait until you dont hear a pop for 15 seconds and then take it out of the microwave.....i think its 15 seconds, either way it says some length of time on the bag and if you follow that rule it always comes out decent.

(just dont stop the microwave and restart it. if you do you are screwed)

Don't need no microwave popcorn. Pots and pans. Microwave is for heating already cooked food, minimal use. I'd like to learn to pop before I start any of that shit.

    I have a lid. Repeat. I have a lid.

    I have many lids.

I have many pots, all different sizes, and they all have lids.

    Maybe I should ask Poppy?

Can you use olive oil instead of Canola (vegetable) oil? I used to make popcorn in a pot with kernels and oil and such. It turns out fine if you follow the recipe. Did you buy kernels? There ought to be a recipe on the kernels that tells you how to achieve the ultimate popping experience. :) Popcorn!
