I have zero dollars left in my account because I suck at NFL betting. :p personally I find long odds more amusing to play. But it's always the lines that get me. Like I'll bet on -5 or something and the team will be up by 2 with 30 seconds left and I just want them to go for the field goal... Make it 5 points and I'll win. But then they don't.

Now the last time I did this a couple weeks ago and I went for a 14+ win, the Broncos were up by 12 and just needed a FG to win my bet, and they were down on the 12 yard line with 57 seconds left 4th and 8 and I thought oh they'll just kick a field goal now and I'll win my bet. But noooo they must have had a conversation with the other team because they then ran a run play failed miserable and the other team kneeled down to end it. I was majorly annoyed by this. :p

Naw, I don't gamble. I don't think it's wrong ethically or anything. I've believed that I can become easily addicted to things so have purposely stayed away from gambling for actual money. I did grow up in a card playing family though. I've only ever been on the playing floor of casinos a very few amount of times. I've been around people that go to them though and have heard some of their stories. I don't even like playing scratchers myself.

Ha, I wouldn’t put that much money on the Patriots let alone the Broncos with Tom Brady seemingly declining faster than Peyton Manning did.

I love Black Jack but I refuse to play anymore than $5 a hand. I also won't sit down at a table with guys my age. They are the orneriest bunch to play with. Heaven forbid you stray from the Black Jack Gods way of playing. Gotta be a table of various ages and men and women. That's the most fun. On $40 I can usually play for roughly 3 hours and have a good portion left.

My g/f had some rare time off and the weather was kinda crappy. I had taught her how to play BJ a little but it had been awhile. She wanted to go to kill her day off. It was a good night. Had 3 good shoes in a row. She was hitting 21s like a monkey on fire and I was killing on the hi/low strategy. A 4 figure win this time for me and she was thrilled to be up $200.

Shheezz. Now she will be on fire to try again!!!!

I'm happy to have deferred some of my vacation expenses. But I don't want to get started on thinking it will be good to me again.

Coincidentally a player came to join the table. He had a box sealed with tape that he kept close at hand. He pulled out a wad of cash and entered in at 2K in chips that he peeled off the stack.
I listened in on the chatter he had with the dealer. They knew each other in some capacity. He was the sports betting agent at that casino. It was his company that collected the bets and apparently sent that box of cash to somewhere that wasn't the casino. The box was full of the bets placed on the sports they covered. During a shuffle I asked him if that was company policy to carry that around like that. He said I am the company and all I have to do is pay the casino their cut and the rest I have to cover when the games end. The casino makes sure he is safe while on premises.

I'm thinking to myself....holy crap, this guy is walking out of here with a freakin box of cash and leaving here on foot. (Maybe he had a guard waiting in a vehicle IDK). There had to be some way he secured all of that. I asked him if there was a decent living he was making. He said about 15% ROI was the norm. Unless there was some crazy sports nuclear bomb where all the long shots win, then he has to borrow on margin until the next week.

I am not into sports or sports betting so I don't know how any of that works. But he had a hell of a lot of money that was all cash bets in that box. It seems risky if everybody bets the favorites and they have the expected win. It just seems like he can't make money that way. But he didn't seem worried.

He had about 5K in his pocket and was not acting like he was concerned if he needed more cash.

With the KC QB I don't see the Broncos doing well unless they really scout a good team. The division belongs to KC now. I don't know several KC fans in my family and Broncos rivelry is real.

I'll play cards from time to time and once every few years we make a trip to the casino. No regular or serious gambling though. I enjoy it, I just don't do it often

haven't been to a casino in more then ten years, other then to eat at a buffet, or go to a convention once or twice a year, because all the hotels in this town that have convention facilities are casinos. not that i have anything against. just no interest in. i mean, the odds are what they are, and i find lots of ways more gratifying and interesting to waste money on.

maybe i owe it to this town i live in to help support the local economy that way, but nope, still not interested. besides i do that grocery shopping anyway.
i'd spend more locally on train and computer stores if it had any, but it doesn't. no trains stores anyway.

gamble has of course other meanings besides just what you do with money in a casino.

most of what is called sport today, was one of the archaic meanings of the word, if it was casual and informal, and even courting if you were a peasant farmer or hunter.
most forms of business are gambles one way or another, especially those with the overhead of an actual storefront.
i think travel for pleasure was one of those meanings, back when that was somewhat risky business itself, like back in the middle ages.
