Melania Trump Plagiarizes Michelle Obama

I think the problem here is that to be legally actionable, there has to be an infringement of copyright. If Michelle Obama said "Be youself! Think positive! Always look on the bright side! The sun will come out tomorrow! It's always darkest before the dawn! Always see the glass as half full, not half empty!", someone might be able to copy everything she said verbatim without violating copyright law primarily because of its lack of originality (and therefore any claim to copyright).

If Melania were a college student, and she submitted her speech as original classwork, she might run afoul of a school's plagiarism policy, but even then both the brevity of the quote and lack of originality in the "original" material might make it hard to call it plagiarism.

 

and what does the Trump camp do in turn as rebuttal....Blame Hillary.....why, of course, only obvious thing to do.

 

Joe Biden plagiarized an entire speech in 1988 and nobody gave a hoot.

 

There are 2 things we can be safely and accurately assured of:

Melania's speech writers like things that black women say - #1

These same speech writers don't believe in giving anyone credit for what is said but Melania - #2.

Despite Melania saying she wrote the speech, those were her words...methinks someone told her to say that. lol


Besides that, when I think of Melania being the 1st lady - :yikes: is what I feel when I think her husband, this bizarre example of humanity, is a serious contender for the POTUS.

 

It is the path which thugs follow when they wish to rule the world.

I seriously think this story is a non-issue. Who cares? I can't believe the reaction that this "story" getting, and I'm no Trump fan. This speech is so incredibly inconsequential. Just something to gossip about until the next drama pops up.
