That old argument again Had to google who Zao is, way too many lineup changes, if even the members dont believe enough to stick around.....
Again This is YOUR Opinion Ask ten people get Twelve answers One thing I am Reasonably certain of though Is that in a poll almost every one of the bands Posted on here will come Waaaaaaaaay Higher than zao Sorry But Its Life And I am Really not trying to piss on your cornflakes mate
lol life is full of opinions. i know mine isnt popular. im getting some enjoyment out of the discussion and sharing of music mostly
they have had lots of disputes and issues with uncommited people. Daniel is the heart of the band though and has been around since their best work in 2004. Alot of the issues were centered around them turning their back on christianity. they started as a christian band in their most early work (that sucked) and were shunned by their community so others took over the sound and improved it. its a odd string of events that i feel was for the best
Some of us old guys think it's all been done before... :wheelchair: LOL Seriously, I think modern metal is one of the few places where at least some progressive drumming is still happening. For guitar, I'm not so sure. All the examples I posted had obvious strong blues influence and an emphasis on guitar solos. A lot of modern metal I hear today, there is a disconnect from the blues roots. When I can no longer hear the blues in the music, I know it ain't rock! Instead of groove we're hearing rigid time sig changes. Syncopation and backbeat, defining elements of rock music, reduced to accent-less machinegun rhythms with every drummer doing a zillion beats per minute on the bass pedals..... and worst of all, guitar solos are going away. WHERE ARE THE GUITAR SOLOS! :bigcry:
I think it is because most posters on here are of an age were we remember when Musicians actually played for the music and the fans; nowadays or rather the last 25 yrs or so, all there is is the one album fame club and a collection of one hit wonders. I suggest you listen to Sabbaths album Sabotage, to me their greatest work. And no mention of MC5, the outrage lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwTGSfeUXuU
I VERY much agree with this. Most drummers make me sad and I do like the bluesyness. like Candlebox-Rain

Some of the greatest stuff is now 'vintage'. I don't think it has anything to do with a trend though. The praise those vintage bands get (also, but not only, from people on here) is pretty consistent over the decades Personally I like both a lot of the old stuff, new stuff that can be called 'retro' (mostly the stoner scene that is greatly influenced by 70's psych and heavy rock) and can also appreciate a lot of the newer stuff that seemingly disconnects with the blues origins. I'm not really into most new metal except for a pet peeve: scandinavian black metal. Used to be more interested in stuff like grindcore, doom metal etc. and some of it is really good but can't say I'm into it as much as black metal. I'm terribly selective in any genre though, I'm mostly attracted to 90's black. The decade I really got into it.
I like Lots of New music of all kinds I just dont think Music Should Be Pigeonholed int anything Because it stops people listening something they might otherwise Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmbw2RRGGbk
Im still perplexed as to why Back in Black sold so many copies, it is still the 2nd highest selling album of all time Dont get me wrong, I love the album But they went from being a band with moderate success, touring the US without any radio play, then a year or so later, after Bon Scott dies release an album and they all of a sudden are selling albums at Michael Jackson numbers And this was 1980, lots of other huge bands going Im not surprised it was big, but bigger than everyone else?
