Not sure anyone in this thread so far has heard of Zao I know I haven't. Are you perhaps in this band yourself?
lmfao i wish. nah ive just been a fan for 11 years. i know they dont have much for a fan base, but i fell in love when i heard some friends playing a cd. to be fair i do like to find obscure stuff. thus why i am here
you should check them out. im not so fond of their last album "Awake?" But funeral of god was the shit. "Ravage ritual" "Skin like winter" and "The last revelation" are pretty awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmHDFuiIDPs
I can't pick one band as the greatest metal band ever myself... Too many great stuff that is brilliant in really different ways. Black Sabbath is the only one named in this thread so far that I would consider for this title. Which makes me wonder: I don't really understand how you reached this conclusion. Aren't you aware why they are considered one of the best by a lot of people? It's not because of their hits or something... (of which I don't think they even got 3 but not sure)
Maybe i have odd taste, but besides "Iron man" "Paranoid" and "war pigs" I really dont like sabbath idk I listen to everything except country from Animal collective to Dope D.O.D. but when its metal i like it heavy with good lyrics and changing melodies
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and separated the light from the darkness. And in the darkness, God created Black Sabbath. And then God looked on in awe as Tony Iommi employed the Devil’s Interval and invented Heavy Metal and the earth embraced the darkness. And God said ‘Fuck this, I’m off, you’re on your own now lads.’
Too bad for God Sabbath left earth as well Past the stars in fields of ancient void Through the shields of darkness where they find Love upon a land a world unknown where the sons of freedom make their home Leave the earth to Satan and his slaves leave them to their future in their grave Make a home where love is there to stay Peace and Happiness in everyday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ODuMh77xGI Nuff said!
I think Sabbath is highly over-rated by a generation not even born by the time Sabbath was at the peak of the original incarnation. They really didn't even get any radio play to speak of during that time, they were basically a cult band. Blue oyster cult was another very heavy band of the 70's, but no one in modern times remembers anything before 'Don't fear the reaper' Vocals are rough on this one but check how heavy this 1972 live BOC. These guys were heavy till they went 'mersh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn6Bsg32AI8
Jimmy Rabbitte: Well, that's a tricky question, Terry. But as I always say, we skipped the light fandango, turned cartweels 'cross the floor. I was feelin' kinda seasick, but the crowd called out for more. Jimmy Rabbitte: [pretending to be Terry Wogan] That's very profound Jimmy! What does it mean? Jimmy Rabbitte: I'm fucked if I know,Terry!
Theprodu: it is very likely that the greatest metal band ever (if there is an absolute one ) is a cult band.
Everyone is aware the thread title is Greatest Heavy Metal Band ever right? Who the fuck is Montrose, Who the fuck is Zao? Thread title isnt Choose some obscure band you dug at some time and you cant understand why no one else did
Whats great isnt always popular and whats popular isnt always great. a few million people like miley cyrus and we all know she is a pile of talentless classless shit
Peoples Will go Having Opinions Unfortunately I never Understand Why people feel the need to split music into Categories IMO there are only two Kinds of music ! The Kind that moves You and the kind that Doesn't
